Das fünfte Studioalbum High On Fire der internationalen Classic-Hardrock-Band SAINTED SINNERS (Facebook) ist frisch auf dem Markt. Wer sie noch nicht kennt, dem sei kurz das Line-Up genannt: Sänger Jack Meile (Tygers Of Pan Tang), Gründungsmitglied und Gitarrist Frank Pané (Bonfire), Ernesto Ghezzi (Gotthard) am Keyboard, Samy Saemann (ex-Fredom Call) am Bass und Berci Hirleman am Schlagzeug.

Also man sieht, das die Band aus bekannten hochkarätigen Musikern besteht. Das ist meistens schon mal ein Garant für gute Musik. Und diese Vermutung bestätigt sich tatsächlich direkt mit dem Opener „Crown Of Thrones“. Nach einem kurzen Intro geht’s umgehend los: Einschlagende Drumsalven eröffnen das Feuer, um dann in einen flotten Drive überzugehen. Und wer nicht nur so nebenbei hinhört, kann hier viele Feinheiten im Sound wahrnehmen. Feinste Gitarren- und Bassarbeit, toller Gesang und dazu noch Töne einer Hammond Orgel. Da kommen natürlich old-school Vibes hoch. Und dann der Instrumentalpart mit dem Gitarrensolo zusammen mit der Hammond Orgel. Einfach herrlich!

Dieser Sound ist schlichtweg zeitlos und sorgt bei mir nach wie vor für Begeisterung. Es ist wunderbar, wenn man den old-school Sound heutzutage so frisch und heiß servieren kann. Da läuft mir das Wasser im Mund zusammen und ich hoffe, dass mir die anderen musikalischen Gerichte auf dem Album ebenfalls munden werden. „Out Of The Blue“ ist jedenfalls auch eine Delikatesse.

SAINTED SINNERS fallen nicht mit der Tür ins Haus. Ihr Sound ist nicht auf Bombast und Konfrontation ausgelegt, sondern sind einem Selbstverständnis von Musik erlegen, welches all Elemente des Rock in einer Art und Weise darbieten, die fein aufeinander abgestimmt sind. Hier wird als nicht die Keule geschwungen, sondern feinste Rockmusik gestrickt.

So gleitet „Night After Night“ unaufdringlich wohlklingend durch die Ohren, während „Sunshine“ mit einem starken Groove und einer Portion Blues auftritt. Die Keys nach dem Gitarrensolo klingen herrlich verrückt. Das macht gute Laune! Die Ballade „Empty Days Of Wonder“ sorgt für zarte emotionale Momente, obwohl die Darbietung auch mit viel Kraft und Ausdruck gerockt wird.

„Hide In The Dark“ ist ein fröhlich verspielter Track, der mal wieder ne ganz andere Ausrichtung besitzt. Dies unterstreicht einmal mehr die Vielseitigkeit des Albums. Hier werden elf ganz individuelle Erfahrungen geboten, die gekonnt das Riff „Wiederholungsgefahr“ umschiffen. Der Abschlusstrack „Who Are You“ versprüht ebenso viel Fröhlichkeit und bildet dann zum Ende einen äußerst gut gelaunten Abschluss. Eine beflügelnde treibende Rocknummer, das unter anderem mit einer schönen verspielten Pianobegleitung für Freude sorgt.

„Lost In A Storm“ gehört mit zu meinen Lieblingen auf dem Album. Es ist ein hochatmosphärischer Song mit einer dunkleren verruchten Ausstrahlung, der ebenfalls mit bluesigen Elemente arbeitet. Ein knackiger Track, der mit viel Power puscht.

Fazit

SAINTED SINNERS gelingt mit High On Fire ein Werk, das die Essenz des klassischen Rock in die Gegenwart trägt. Die Band aus hochkarätigen Musikern präsentiert elf Songs, die jeweils eine eigene Klangwelt entfalten. Sie schenken uns kraftvolle Songs wie „Crown Of Thrones“, hymnische Stücke wie „Out Of The Blue“, groovige Gute-Laune-Nummern wie „Sunshine“ bis hin zu atmosphärischen Highlights wie „Lost In A Storm“.

Statt auf Bombast oder Effekthascherei zu setzen, stricken die Musiker fein abgestimmte Rockmusik, die durch Virtuosität, Detailreichtum und emotionale Tiefe überzeugt. Die Hammond-Orgel, die Gitarrensoli und die variantenreiche Stimme von Jack Meile verleihen dem Album eine zeitlose Aura, die sowohl Nostalgie als auch Frische transportiert.

Mit dem fröhlich-verspielten „Hide In The Dark“ und dem beflügelnden Abschlusstrack „Who Are You“ beweisen Sainted Sinners ihre Vielseitigkeit und schließen das Album mit einem positiven Hochgefühl ab. High On Fire ist damit ein Album, das keine Wiederholungsgefahr kennt, sondern durch Abwechslung, Energie und Authentizität begeistert – ein zeitloses Rock-Menü, das von Anfang bis Ende mundet.

The fifth studio album High On Fire by international classic hard rock band SAINTED SINNERS (Facebook) is fresh on the market. For those who don’t know them yet, here’s a quick rundown of the lineup: singer Jack Meile (Tygers Of Pan Tang), founding member and guitarist Frank Pané (Bonfire), Ernesto Ghezzi (Gotthard) on keyboards, Samy Saemann (ex-Fredom Call) on bass, and Berci Hirleman on drums.

So you can see that the band consists of well-known, top-class musicians. That’s usually a guarantee for good music. And this assumption is confirmed right away with the opener “Crown Of Thrones.” After a short intro, it kicks off immediately: powerful drum salvos open fire, then transition into a lively drive. And if you listen closely, you can hear many subtleties in the sound. Exquisite guitar and bass work, great vocals, and the sounds of a Hammond organ. Of course, this brings up old-school vibes. And then there’s the instrumental part with the guitar solo together with the Hammond organ. Simply wonderful!

This sound is absolutely timeless and still thrills me to this day. It’s wonderful when old-school sounds can be served up so fresh and hot these days. It makes me hungry for more, and I hope that the other musical dishes on the album will also be to my taste. In any case, “Out Of The Blue” is indeed another delicacy.

SAINTED SINNERS don’t kick down doors. Their sound isn’t designed for bombast and confrontation, but rather succumbs to a self-image of music that presents all elements of rock in a finely tuned manner. Here, they don’t swing the wrecking ball, but rather weave the finest rock music.

“Night After Night” glides unobtrusively and melodiously through the ears, while ‘Sunshine’ comes across with a strong groove and a dose of blues. The keys after the guitar solo sound wonderfully crazy. It puts you in a good mood! The ballad “Empty Days Of Wonder” provides tender emotional moments, although the performance also rocks with a lot of power and expression.

“Hide In The Dark” is a cheerful, playful track that once again has a completely different orientation. This underlines the versatility of the album once more. Eleven very individual experiences are offered here, which skillfully avoid the danger of repetition. The closing track “Who Are You” exudes just as much cheerfulness and provides an extremely upbeat ending. An inspiring, driving rock number that brings joy with, among other things, a beautiful, playful piano accompaniment.

“Lost In A Storm” is one of my favorites on the album. It’s a highly atmospheric song with a darker, wicked vibe that also incorporates bluesy elements. A crisp track that pumps you up with a lot of power.

Fazit

SAINTED SINNERS has succeeded in creating an album that brings the essence of classic rock into the present. With High On Fire the band of top-class musicians presents eleven songs, each of which unfolds its own charisma. They give us powerful songs like “Crown Of Thrones,” anthemic pieces like “Out Of The Blue,” groovy feel-good numbers like “Sunshine,” and atmospheric highlights like “Lost In A Storm.”

Instead of relying on bombast, the musicians craft finely tuned rock music that impresses with its virtuosity, richness of detail, and emotional depth. The Hammond organ, guitar solos, and Jack Meile’s versatile voice give the album a timeless aura that conveys both nostalgia and freshness.

With the cheerful and playful „Hide In The Dark“ and the uplifting closing track „Who Are You,“ Sainted Sinners demonstrate their versatility and conclude the album on a positive high note. High On Fire is an album that never gets old, but instead thrills with its variety, energy, and authenticity—a timeless rock menu that tastes great from start to finish.
