Die schwedische Heavy-Rock-Band S.O.R.M lassen wieder von sich hören und bringen die Single „I’m A Killer“ heraus. Ich verfolge die Band nun schon ziemlich lange und würde mich freuen, wenn sie dieses Jahr ein neues Album rausbringen würden.
Der Sound von S.O.R.M hat mich damals auf Anhieb völlig überzeugt. Ein entscheidender Grund dafür war die Stimme von Sänger Micke Holm, die mich sofort an W.A.S.P. erinnerte, wo Blackie Lawless seit jeher am Mikro steht. Allerdings empfinde ich Mickes Stimme als noch kraftvoller und präsenter. Diese enorme Ausdrucksstärke trägt sowohl die druckvollen, rockigen Songs als auch die gefühlvollen Momente mit einer Intensität, die unter die Haut geht. Apropos unter die Haut gehen….Hierzu gibt es übrigens auch den passenden Song „Under My Skin“ (2024), die es einer Version mit Doug Blair (W.A.S.P) gibt.
Ich konnte mich auch schon live von der Band überzeugen, als die Band in Bochum als Support von The Night Flight Orchestra spielte. Auf der Bühne wurde noch deutlicher, wie viel Energie, Emotion und Authentizität in Mickes Gesang steckt. Es war ein Auftritt, der sich sofort eingebrannt hat.
„Under My Skin“ heißt ebenfalls der Longplayer von S.O.R.M, vollgepackt mit packendem Heavy-Rock, der auch mal gefühlvoll rüberkommt. Kann man nur empfehlen! Doch nun steht die nächste Single „I’m A Killer“ auf dem Programm. Es ist wieder einer der flotteren angriffslustigen Songs von S.O.R.M, die in ihrem Repertoire recht vielseitig aufgestellt sind. Von zart bis hart gibt es das gesamte Programm, was man hier in diesem Bericht anhand der Songs gut nachvollziehen kann. Zum Inhalt des Songs „I’m A Killer“ sagt die Band folgendes:
Die neue Single ‚I’m A Killer‘ handelt davon, wie die indigenen Völker Nordamerikas von ihrem Land vertrieben wurden und wie Männer, Frauen und Kinder um ihr Leben kämpfen und fliehen mussten. Es geht auch darum, wie feige der weiße Mann war, indem er Schusswaffen einsetzte, um die Schlacht zu gewinnen, und wie dies die indigenen Völker bis heute geprägt hat. Heute leben sie in Reservaten und werden wie Diebe behandelt. Der Titel ‚I’m A Killer‘ steht sinnbildlich für das, was sie unserer Vorstellung nach werden mussten, um zu überleben.
Um die Vielseitigkeit von S.O.R.M darzustellen, möchte ich noch die Single „The Sacrifice“ aus dem letzten Jahr vorstellen. Sänger Micke sagte folgendes zum Inhalt des Songs:
Nun, ihr wisst wie es im Leben läuft. Wir alle müssen Opfer bringen, um im Leben voranzukommen. Manche Opfer sind größer als andere. Manchmal schreien wir nach einem Helden, der uns hilft, den richtigen Weg zu gehen. Manchmal sind wir zu träge oder zu ängstlich, um einen neuen Weg im Leben einzuschlagen, weil wir unsere Komfortzone nicht verlassen wollen. Wenn du einen neuen Job bekommst, eine neue Beziehung, öffnet sich ein neuer Weg. Oder wenn man mit Selbstmordgedanken kämpft, braucht man Hilfe, um auf den richtigen Weg geführt zu werden. Manchmal bittet man sogar eine höhere Macht, einem zu helfen.

The Swedish heavy rock band S.O.R.M have resurfaced and released their new single “I’m A Killer.” I’ve been following the band for quite a while now, and I’d be thrilled if they decided to put out a new album this year.
The sound of S.O.R.M immediately won me over back then. A decisive reason for this was the voice of singer Micke Holm, which instantly reminded me of W.A.S.P., where Blackie Lawless has always been behind the microphone. However, I find Micke’s voice even more powerful and commanding. This remarkable expressiveness elevates both the hard‑hitting rock songs and the emotional moments with an intensity that truly gets under your skin. Speaking of getting under your skin… there’s even a fitting track for that: “Under My Skin” (2024), which is also available in a version featuring Doug Blair from W.A.S.P.
I’ve also had the chance to experience the band live when they played in Bochum as the support act for The Night Flight Orchestra. On stage, it became even more apparent how much energy, emotion, and authenticity Micke brings to his vocals. It was a performance that left an immediate and lasting impression.
“Under My Skin” is also the title of S.O.R.M’s full‑length album, packed with gripping heavy rock that isn’t afraid to show its more emotional side. Highly recommended. But now the next single, “I’m A Killer,” is on the horizon. Once again, it’s one of S.O.R.M’s faster, more aggressive tracks, showcasing just how versatile their repertoire really is. From soft to heavy, they cover the entire spectrum — something that becomes very clear when you look at the songs mentioned throughout this review. Regarding the meaning behind “I’m A Killer,” the band has the following to say:
The new single ‚I’m A Killer‘ is about how Native Americans got chased away from their land and how man, women and children had to fight and run for their lives. Also about how coward the white man was by using firearms to win the battle and how it changed the Native Americans till today. Now they live in reserves and are treated like thieves. The title ‚I’m A Killer‘ is what we can imagine what they needed to turn into, to stay alive.
To showcase the versatility of S.O.R.M, I’d also like to highlight last year’s single “The Sacrifice.” Singer Micke shared the following about the meaning behind the song:
Well, you know how life goes. We all have to make sacrifices to move forward in life. Some sacrifices are greater than others. Sometimes we cry out for a hero to help us walk the right path. Sometimes we are too lazy or too afraid to take a new path in life because we don’t want to leave our comfort zone. When you get a new job, a new relationship, a new path opens up. Or if you’re struggling with suicidal thoughts, you need help to be guided to the right path. Sometimes you even ask a higher power to help you.
