𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 holen zum nächsten Schlag aus. Schon auf Jailbreak zeichnete sich ab, dass 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 sich von bestimmten Erwartungen lösen würden, was natürlich auch mit dem Line-Up-Wechsel in Verbindung stand. Jetzt, im neuen Material, wird diese Entwicklung radikal fortgeführt: Die Band explodiert förmlich, sprengt die Ketten und spielt so befreit auf, dass ein musikalisches Inferno entsteht, das in seiner Wucht und Ausdruckskraft nur von wenigen Acts dieser Szene so erreicht wird.

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 sagten über ihr kommendes Album 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚:

Nun, solche markigen Worte hört man häufiger von Bands, die ein neues Album anpreisen. Doch nach dem Genuß des Albums 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚, dass dies keine leere Phrase ist und 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 bisher ihren Worten eindrucksvolle Taten folgen lassen. Dies haben sie bereits mit ihren Singles „Slave Machine“ und „Ghost Notes“ unter Beweis gestellt. „Slave Machine“ feuert ein kompromissloses Thrash‑Feuerwerk ab. Der Track fegt mit ungebremster Wucht nach vorne und zeigt 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 von ihrer aggressivsten, direktesten Seite, die kompromisslos nach vorne stürmt und alles wegfegt. Hier bleibt keine Zeit, um Luft zu holen!

Die Single „Ghost Notes“ unterscheidet sich vom wütenden Sturm „Slave Machine“ und lässt keinerlei Zweifel daran, dass 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 ihren eingeschlagenen Kurs kompromisslos fortsetzen. „Ghost Notes“ taucht tiefer in eine düstere Death‑Atmosphäre ein und setzt auf einen nahezu monumentalen Ausdruck mit Hang zur Epik. Alles wird getragen von Drums mit präziser, wuchtiger Rhythmik. Das kraftvolle und zugleich hochmelodische Gitarrenriffing besitzt enorme Präsenz, während der Bass mit markanter Tiefe und eigenständigem Gewicht das technisch versierte Fundament verstärkt.

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 setzen längst nicht mehr ausschließlich auf Geschwindigkeit, sondern auf komplexere Songs, die in Sachen Härte zwar keinerlei Kompromisse kennen, aber dennoch jeweils einen eigenen Charakter entfalten. Die Band spielt die Elementen ihres Death‑Thrash‑Fundaments mit einer fast unkontrollierten Wut und Aggression, die weniger geplant, sondern instinktiv wirkt. Das Wechsel -und Zusammenspiel zwischen Thrash- und Death-Elementen funktioniert hierbei einwandfrei, indem sie sich ergänzen und zu Höchstleistungen anstacheln. Natürlich werden Fans, die lediglich den klassischen Thrash lieben, die Nase rümpfen, aber mir gefällt der Mix super.

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 experimentieren auf 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 ein wenig mit dem Gesang. Das betrifft hin und wieder das Aufblitzen eines Chorus, der etwas „cleaner“ wirkt als bisher, z.B. bei „Slave Machine“, „30 Seconds“ oder „Crawl For Your Pride“. Diese Elemente bleiben jedoch bewusst dezent und eher im Hintergrund verankert. Man hört deutlich, dass sich die Band ausprobiert und ihrem Sound neue Facetten hinzufügen möchte, ohne dabei die eigene Härte oder Identität zu verwässern.

Gerade im Extrem Metal ist gesangliche Variation ein schmaler Grat. Zu viel Melodie kann die Wucht brechen, zu wenig Veränderung kann auf Dauer stagnieren. Keine Ahnung, was bei 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 in Zukunft noch so passieren wird, aber aktuell bin ich ein Fan ihrer Musik.

Fazit

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 verfolgen konsequent ihren eigenen Weg und fühlen sich im Thrash/Death-Mix außerordentlich wohl. Der Erfolg des letzten Albums Jailbreak gibt ihnen recht und hat ihnen starken Rückenwind verschafft. 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 bricht auf derselben Welle über die Hörerschaft herein; nur noch eine Spur heftiger, noch entschlossener.

Mit niederschmetternder Wucht räumen 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 alles aus dem Weg, was sich ihr entgegenstellt. Geschwindigkeit, Groove, monumentale Ausbrüche und eine düstere, druckvolle Atmosphäre greifen ineinander und formen mit 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 wieder ein Album, für das Schwäche ein Fremdwort ist. 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 liefern selbstbewusst ein musikalisches Inferno ab, das zeigt, wie souverän sie ihre eigene Sprache gefunden haben.

Already on Jailbreak it became clear that 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 was ready to break away from certain expectations — a shift that naturally coincided with the lineup changes. Now, with the new material, this evolution is pushed to a radical new level: 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 practically explodes, shattering every chain and performing with such unrestrained force that a musical inferno erupts…one whose sheer impact and expressive power is matched by only a handful of acts in the scene.

Well, bold statements like these are often heard from bands promoting a new album. But after experiencing 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚, it becomes clear that this is anything but an empty phrase. 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 have consistently backed up their words with action. They already proved this with their singles “Slave Machine” and “Ghost Notes.”

“Slave Machine” unleashes a relentless thrash onslaught. The track surges forward with unrestrained force, showing 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 at their most aggressive and direct, a full‑frontal assault that storms ahead and wipes everything in its path. There’s no time to catch your breath here.

The single “Ghost Notes” stands in clear contrast to the blasting storm “Slave Machine” and leaves no doubt that 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 are continuing on their chosen path with absolute determination. “Ghost Notes” dives deeper into a dark death‑metal atmosphere and leans into a near‑monumental expression with a touch of epic grandeur. Everything is carried by drums that deliver a precise, heavy rhythmic backbone. The powerful yet highly melodic guitar riffing commands enormous presence, while the bass -marked by striking depth and its own distinct weight – reinforces the technically adept foundation beneath it.

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 no longer rely solely on speed, but on more complex songs that make no compromises in terms of heaviness while still developing a distinct character of their own. The band channels the elements of their death‑thrash foundation with an almost uncontrolled fury and aggression that feels less calculated and more instinctive. The interplay and contrast between thrash and death elements works flawlessly here, each pushing the other to new heights.

Of course, fans who only worship classic thrash may turn up their noses, but personally, I think this mix works incredibly well.

On 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 experiment a bit with their vocals. Every now and then, a chorus flashes up that sounds slightly “cleaner”, for example in “Slave Machine“, “30 Seconds“ or “Crawl For Your Pride“. These elements, however, remain deliberately subtle and anchored more in the background. You can clearly hear that the band is trying things out and adding new facets to their sound without diluting their trademark heaviness or identity.

In extreme metal, vocal variation is always a delicate balancing act. Too much melody can break the impact, while too little change can lead to stagnation over time. I have no idea what the future holds for 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀, but right now, I’m absolutely a fan of what they’re doing.

Conclusion

𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 continue to follow their own path with unwavering determination and feel completely at home in their thrash/death hybrid. The success of their previous album Jailbreak proved them right and gave them tremendous momentum. 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 crashes over its listeners on the same wave. Only heavier, only more resolute!

With crushing force, 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 smash everything out of their path. Speed, groove, monumental outbursts and a dark, heavy atmosphere interlock seamlessly, shaping 𝙎𝙡𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚 into yet another album for which weakness simply isn’t part of the vocabulary. 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐎𝐒𝐀 deliver a confident musical inferno that demonstrates just how fully they have mastered their own sonic language.
