Update zur Single „Don’t Be Mad“

Es ist mal wieder Zeit für knackigen mitreißenden Rock ’n‘ Roll. 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 liefert uns wieder heißen Stoff. Die neue Single „Rock ’n‘ Roll Casualty“ ist der Appetizer für das kommende Album 𝘼𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙊𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙, das am 28. August via Mighty Music erscheinen wird.

𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 stehen für eine Art Hard Rock, die trotz moderner Tendenzen nicht glanzpoliert wirkt. Die Band aus den USA verbindet den dreckigen Sleaze‑Spirit der späten Achtziger mit einer Energie und Ausstrahlung, die eher rauchiges Clubfeeling als Hochglanz Attitüde versprühen.. Seit ihrer Gründung 2013 haben sie sich mit kompromisslosen Liveshows, ehrlichem Rock’n’Roll und einem Sound zwischen rotzig erdiger Frequenz und stadiontauglichen Hooks einen festen Platz in der internationalen Szene erspielt.

Bassist Chris Taylor äußert sich zum Konzept und Titel des Albums:

Für dieses Album haben wir uns entschieden, einen anderen Produzenten hinzuzuziehen. Wir lieben alles, was Andy (Reilly) auf unseren früheren Alben geleistet hat, aber aus kreativer Sicht fanden wir, dass es an der Zeit war, etwas Neues zu wagen und uns von jemandem aus unserer Komfortzone locken zu lassen. Wir wollen uns mit jedem Album als Band weiterentwickeln, und ich glaube, Pete hat im Studio das Beste aus jedem von uns herausgeholt. Als wir nach einem Namen für das Album suchten, verließen DK und ich eines Tages das Studio und tauschten uns über verschiedene Ideen aus. Ich schlug vor, dass wir uns zu unserem Status als Underground-Band bekennen und den Fans Tribut zollen sollten, die Underground-Musik unterstützen. Nach einigem Hin und Her entstand schließlich der Titel „Anthems From The Underground“.

Zeiten ändern sich, aber ich möchte mal behaupten, dass Bands wie 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 und andere Vertreter dieses kompromisslosen Rocksounds in den 70er- und 80er‑Jahren problemlos ganze Stadien gefüllt hätten. Und gerade weil ich selbst die unmittelbare Club‑Atmosphäre den anonymen Großarenen vorziehe, kann ich dem Statement von Chris Taylor nur zustimmen. Für Bands wie diese ist die Nähe zum Publikum kein Nebeneffekt. Sie atmen diese Atmosphäre ein und genießen es in vollen Zügen. Und genau damit entfaltet ihre Musik die beste Wirkung.

Der Song „Rock ’n‘ Roll Casualty“ spiegelt diese Attitüde perfekt wieder. Es ist ein Song, bei dem man sich sofort im Rock ’n‘ Roll-Gefilde heimisch fühlt. Der Song kommt mit einem lockeren Beat daher. Die forsche Energie, die am Ende noch entfesselt wird, hätte man ruhig eher oder zwischendurch schon mal einsetzen können. Alles in allem eine tolle Hymne, die mit einem schönen Video visualisiert wurde. Ihr werdet dort etliche Legenden des Rock ’n‘ Roll entdecken.

Ganz aktuell haben 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 ihre Single „Don’t Be Mad“ rausgekickt. Sie geht in eine etwas andere Richtung. Klang die erste Single „Rock ’n‘ Roll Casualty“ noch scharf und frech, geht die Band mit „Don’t Be Mad“ etwas softer an das Thema ran. Sie hat stellenweise einen leicht melancholischen Touch, dreht dann aber wieder mit Energie ermunternd auf. Diese Herangehensweise passt zum Thema des Songs, denn es geht um das Beenden von Beziehungen, die nicht mehr funktionieren, wo einer oder jeder von beiden nur noch verrückt spielt und es böse wird. Bevor das passiert, sollte man dann einfach gehen und es hinter sich lassen.

It’s once again time for some tight, hard‑hitting rock ’n’ roll. 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 are back with fresh fire. Their new single “Rock ’n’ Roll Casualty” serves as the appetizer for the upcoming album 𝘼𝙣𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙨 𝙊𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙, set for release on August 28 via Mighty Music.

On this album we decided to bring in a different producer. We love everything (the previous producer) Andy (Reilly) did on our previous albums, but creatively we thought it was time to do something different and have someone push us out of our comfort zone. Every record we want to grow as a band and I think Pete brought out the best of us individually in the studio. When we were trying to decide on an album name, DK and I were leaving the studio one day kicking around ideas. I told him I thought we should embrace the fact that we were an underground band and pay tribute to fans that support underground music. After kicking around a few ideas back and forth, “Anthems From The Underground” was born.

Times change, but I’d argue that bands like 𝐊𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐀 and other representatives of this uncompromising rock sound would have easily filled stadiums back in the ’70s and ’80s. And since I personally prefer the immediacy of a sweaty club over the anonymity of a giant arena, I can only agree with Chris Taylor’s statement. For bands like this, closeness to the audience isn’t a side effect. It’s part of their lifeblood. They breathe that atmosphere in and revel in it. And that’s exactly where their music hits with the greatest impact.

The song “Rock ’n’ Roll Casualty” reflects this attitude perfectly. It’s a track that instantly makes you feel at home in the world of rock ’n’ roll. It comes with an easy, laid‑back groove, and the burst of bold energy unleashed toward the end could have shown up a bit earlier or somewhere in between. All in all, it’s a strong anthem, brought to life with a great video. You’ll spot plenty of rock ’n’ roll legends in there.
