𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 sind ein Projekt des schwedischen Musikers Zorn, der mit dieser Band einer bestimmten Vision folgt. Zorn ist fasziniert von der dunklen Seite des Menschen. 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 erzählen in außergewöhnlicher Form musikalische Geschichten, welche sich in einer Nervenheilanstalt ereignen. Dort regiert der Wahnsinn! 2017 wurde diese Geschichte mit dem Album Where Hatred Dwells And Darkness Reigns begonnen hat und 2021 mit The Zornheim Sleep Experiment fortgesetzt wurde, welches über das Label Noble Demon veröffentlicht wurde.

𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 zelebrieren symphonischen Metal, aber auf eine ganz eigene extreme Art und Weise. Es sind düstere Geschichten, die mit einer harten schwarzen Metalfeder geschrieben werden. Die Kompositionen sind komplex und ungewöhnlich.

Vier Jahre ist es nun her, dass die Pforten der Anstalt Zornheim geöffnet wurden. Ein atemberaubendes Erlebnis, das nun dieses Jahr seine Fortsetzung findet. Dabei macht die Single „Somewhere Far Beyond“ den Anfang. Das Studioalbum 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 wird am 2. Oktober 2026 über Noble Demon erscheinen. 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙈𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 dient als Prequel zu der düsteren und komplexen Geschichte um die Nervenheilanstalt „Zornheim“, ihre Insassen und ihre Ärzte, wobei aber nicht so ganz klar, wer hier eigentlich vom Wahnsinn befallen ist.

Persönlicher Eindruck: Ich erkenne sofort den typischen 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 Sound. Die Gitarrenleads und der Gesang sind unverkennbar und haben einen starken Wiedererkennungswert. Der Death Metal Einschlag alterniert mit klaren Vocals und Chören, die sich in symphonischen Eskapaden ergießen, die sich immer wieder in neue Richtungen verzweigen.

Wie gewohnt verweigert sich die Band jeder Vorhersehbarkeit. Twists and Turns gehören zum Fundament ihres Songwritings, und genau dadurch verschwimmt die Grenze zwischen Wahnsinn und ästhetischer Kunst. Was entsteht, ist ein faszinierendes Gesamtkunstwerk, das sicher nicht jedem gefallen wird, aber gerade diese kompromisslose Eigenständigkeit macht den Reiz aus. Hinter all dem spürt man die große Vision, die weit über den rein musikalischen Aspekt hinausreicht und 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 zu einem der konsequentesten Konzeptprojekte im Extreme‑Metal macht.

𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 is the brainchild of Swedish musician Zorn, who pursues a very specific artistic vision with this band. Zorn is fascinated by the darker side of human nature. 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 tells musical stories in an extraordinary narrative form, all of which take place within a psychiatric institution, a place ruled by madness. This overarching storyline began in 2017 with the album Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns and was continued 2021 with The Zornheim Sleep Experiment, released via Noble Demon.

𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 celebrate symphonic metal, but in a distinctly extreme and unmistakably their own way. These are dark tales, written with a pitch‑black metal quill. The compositions are complex, unconventional, and deliberately shaped to push beyond familiar structures.

Five years have passed since the gates of the Zornheim asylum were first opened It is an overwhelming experience that now finds its continuation this year. The journey begins with the new single “Somewhere Far Beyond.” The studio album Descending Into Madness will be released on October 2, 2026 via Noble Demon. Descending Into Madness serves as a prequel to the dark and intricate narrative surrounding the psychiatric institution “Zornheim“, its inmates, and its doctors, although it remains far from clear who is truly afflicted by madness.

I immediately recognize the unmistakable 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 sound. The guitar leads and the vocals are instantly identifiable, carrying a strong sense of identity and familiarity. The death‑metal edge alternates with clean vocals and choirs that spill into symphonic escapades, branching out into ever‑new directions.

As always, the band refuses any form of predictability. Twists and turns are woven into the very foundation of their songwriting, and it is precisely this approach that blurs the line between madness and aesthetic artistry. The result is a fascinating work of art that certainly won’t appeal to everyone, yet it is this uncompromising individuality that makes it so compelling. Beneath it all, you can feel the grand vision that reaches far beyond the purely musical aspect, making 𝐙𝐎𝐑𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐘𝐌 one of the most consistent and fully realized concept projects in extreme metal.
