Niklas Stålvind explains the following:
How on earth do you come up with such a crazy story? While the song doesn’t exactly make me want to head to the nearest cemetery and dance on graves, I really like its style. The eerie tale is executed in classic heavy metal fashion. Although the song’s structure is unusual, it doesn’t feel clunky; instead, it skillfully conveys this wild and twisted story.
And the filming location for this video naturally had to be authentic in order to capture the atmosphere. Niklas Stålvind comments on this:

Update single „Waltz Post-Mortem“
𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 hail from Sweden and formed at a time when traditional metal was going through a rough period, as the scene was changing and new genres were emerging. Grunge and alternative rock were especially dominant back then. 𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 didn’t let any of that discourage them and fully embraced the classic sound of the 70s and 80s. Over the years, 𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 have released albums on a regular basis and now count nine studio records to their name.
Anyone who regularly listens to the METALHEADs new stuff playlist will already have come across the new single “Death Satellite”. It heralds the band’s tenth album, 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙊𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙤𝙡𝙛, which will be released on November 20 via Fireflash Records. For such a milestone record, 𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 have likely pushed themselves especially hard. At least that’s what you can gather from the statement made by vocalist and guitarist Niklas Stålvind.
We wanted to make an album that fits onto one side of a 90-minute cassette, just like albums used to. Our goal was to create an album you’d want to listen to from start to finish and then play again right away. I think we succeeded. It’s varied enough without losing that classic Wolf sound.
𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 continue to pursue their own vision of heavy metal without paying attention to current trends. The foundation of that vision has always been the spirit and goals of the genre’s earliest years, as Niklas Stålvind further explains regarding the current single “Death Satellite”:
This song is an absolute banger, packed with all the elements that define the classic WOLF sound. Anyone who has heard us before will recognize us within seconds. While the AI overlords plant thoughts into our heads with their algorithms, we offer traditionally forged, old‑school metal made by human hands so we don’t lose our minds. As always, the lyrics carry a deeper meaning and invite reflection, but above all, the song is meant to make you throw your fists in the air, headbang, and simply have a great time.
I’d say 𝐖𝐎𝐋𝐅 have fulfilled their mission with “Death Satellite” brilliantly. The video was directed by Cannes Film Award winner Snovonne “Sno” Drake, and she succeeds in capturing the energy of this track visually, and even amplifying it through rapid‑fire cuts and intense lighting effects.
Single „Waltz Post-Mortem“
The unusual song title immediately stands out, conveying a very morbid feel. The classic waltz as a dance after death… What does it mean? The unsettling lyrics make this very clear.
The lyrics describe a dark love story centered on the desperate attempt to physically hold onto a lost love through a macabre dance of death in the moonlight. While love is generally understood as a spiritual or emotional connection between two people, the protagonist of this story settles for cold bones to find solace. It is the musical rendering of a macabre story in which grief, madness, and boundless love blur together.
Niklas Stålvind explains the following:
Each section of the song differs significantly from the others, and the arrangement is unusual, too: the song builds to a climax, then the sections are reversed, leading back to the beginning. The harmonies of the two guitars swirl around on different planes like leaves in the wind in a graveyard. If you want to pull a skeleton out of your closet and dance with it, this is the perfect track for the job.

The video is more of a short film than a traditional music video, and that is exactly how I picture the songs in my mind—as images, or little moving pictures. We shot the scenes in an old haunted house in the middle of the woods, not far from where I live. I discovered this strange place 19 years ago and had always wanted to do something there for WOLF. This was the perfect opportunity. Enjoy!
The album will be available on CD, digitally, and in three different vinyl editions: red/yellow marbled, red/black splatter (including a signed autograph card and indie exclusive), and blue marbled (Scandinavia exclusive).
