WASTED WIZARDS (Facebook) sind eine junge schwedische Rockband und bestehen aus den Brüdern Leo und Sam Mårtensson, Drummer John Danielsson und Bassist Alvin Hilmersson. Ihre Vision: den Spirit des Classic Rock zurückzubringen, mit einem modernen Touch. Die Leidenschaft wurde ihnen quasi in die Wiege gelegt: Vater Erik Mårtensson ist Mitglied der schwedischen Legende Eclipse. Da bot es sich natürlich an diese Jungs als Vorband mit auf Tour zu nehmen. Dies Chance habe sie genutzt und mit geilen Shows begeistert.
Mir sind sie das erste Mal mit ihrer Single „Hear Me Out“ aufgefallen und haben direkt mächtig Eindruck hinterlassen. Da wurden mir in nur 02:40 Minuten von einem Songtornade stürmisch die Ohren durchgeblasen. Schlicht, aber wirkungsvoll. Manchmal liegt der Spaß schlichtweg in der Einfachheit.
Ich komme nun zur neuen Single „To The City“, welche sich sofort wieder einen Platz in der Playlist METALHEADs new stuff verdient hat. Der Song hat zwar nicht so viel Tempo, ist dafür aber umso verspielter, vor allem was das Gitarrenspiel angeht. Dazu kommt noch nen geiler Groove mit dynamischen Drums und knackigem Bass. Als Krönung feuert Gitarrist Sam Mårtensson noch nen elektrisierendes Gitarrensolo ab. Die Jungs haben Pfeffer im Arsch und haben einfach richtig Bock. Freue mich jetzt schon auf das kommende Album.

WASTED WIZARDS (Facebook) are a young Swedish rock band consisting of brothers Leo and Sam Mårtensson, drummer John Danielsson, and bassist Alvin Hilmersson. Their vision: to bring back the spirit of classic rock with a modern twist. Their passion was practically handed down to them: their father Erik Mårtensson is a member of the legendary Swedish band ECLIPSE. So it was only natural to take these guys on tour as the opening act. They seized this opportunity and thrilled audiences with their awesome shows.
I first noticed WASTED WIZARDS with their single “Hear Me Out,” and they immediately made a powerful impression. In just 2 minutes and 40 seconds, a song tornado stormed through my ears. Simple, but effective. Sometimes the fun can be found in simplicity.
I now come to the new single “To The City,” which immediately earned itself a place in METALHEAD’s new stuff playlist. The song may not be as fast-paced, but it’s all the more playful, especially when it comes to the guitar playing. Add to that a killer groove with dynamic drums and crisp bass. To top it all off, guitarist Sam Mårtensson fires off an electrifying guitar solo. These guys are full of energy and really up for it. I’m already looking forward to the upcoming album.
