Einfach, weil Rock ’n‘ Roll in seiner DNA steckt.
(Quelle: Pressetext Head Of Pr)

Genre: Doom Metal/HEavy Metal
Release: 23.10.2026
Label: BMG (Rights Management)
𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 should be a familiar name to anyone interested in rock and metal. Regarded as a founding father of heavy metal, he has cemented his enduring legacy in the scene over the course of decades. Back in 1969, he brought the legendary band BLACK SABBATH to life alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—marking the start of a unique journey that saw him collaborate with so many other legendary musicians.

𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 is now 78 years old, and he has no intention of retiring. He has achieved everything and, naturally, has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his contributions. So why does he keep making music? Simply because rock & roll is in his DNA. Plus, he enjoys a certain luxury: he can simply do his own thing without anyone telling him what to do.
The following comment from IOMMI fits in with this:
It’s an album we loved working on. We didn’t have anything left to prove to anyone—it’s simply a great album, and it rocks!

𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 stands for a dark, ton-heavy riff sound that shaped Black Sabbath over decades. To this day, his unmistakable signature is based on that legendary mix of ton-heavy inertia, hypnotic groove, and razor-sharp riff constructions. It is clear that 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 would need a powerful vocalist for this album. And Iommi has found him: it is the Norwegian singer Jørn Lande! A better choice could hardly have been made. His epic scope and raw dynamics seem tailor-made for Tony Iommi’s massive sound. And certain Ronnie James Dio vibes cannot be entirely dismissed.
Already with their first single „World Alone“, the band delivered a bold statement that ignited the fire of anticipation for the new album 𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠. So 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 is continuously accompanied on vocals by Jørn Lande, who was involved as a co-writer on all the songs. The high-caliber lineup is completed by bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil, who provide the fundamental and punchy rhythmic backbone. Refined by the production of Mike Exeter, the quartet effortlessly bridges the gap between classic Iommi riffing and timeless heavy rock aesthetics.
That 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 and his top-class crew would deliver nothing short of first-class musicianship was never really in question. The real excitement lies in just how deep and haunting the overall package would turn out to be in the end. With the first single „World Alone“, 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 and his team certainly mean business, and not just on a musical level. They also pulled out all the stops when it comes to the visual presentation: an elaborate short film with a cinematic design stages the song visually.
The video leads into a retro-futuristic, dystopian world where the main character—The Believer—is drawn into a disturbing video game, fights for their life, and ultimately seeks redemption. This dark aesthetic captures the fundamental tone of the album brilliantly and underlines the ambition to establish 𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠 as a total visual work of art as well.
When it comes to the sound, the band stays entirely classic, delivering a grandiose and perfectly orchestrated rock song. The sound is defined by sharp and heavy riffs that bite with power, as well as brilliant solos that embody the exceptional class of 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈. Vocally, Jørn Lande is a match made in heaven: with such a ton-heavy instrumental foundation, it takes an enormous presence to carry the sound rather than getting lost in it. Lande fills this exact role with flying colors using his powerful, striking voice. Simply put, it couldn’t possibly be done any better!
Now that the entire album is finally available in its full length, what the pre-released singles promised is confirmed all down the line. Right from the start, the opener „Over The Violent Sun“ wastes no time at all and gets straight to the point: awesome, unmistakable riffing, powerful drums, and a tight bass ensure that you find yourself right in the middle of the action without any detours. When Jørn Lande then enters with full commitment, goosebumps are guaranteed – what a voice, what an intense expression! This voice not only grabs you with enormous energy, but also truly gets under your skin.
However, it is by no means just powerful gripping: „Black Times“ or „Death Wake“ also reveal calmer, more restrained moments that come across as atmospherically incredibly strong. Singer Jørn Lande plays a major part in this. It is simply incredible how, despite his powerful aura, he transports this deep feeling in his voice. Even in the softer, melodic passages, not the slightest weakness can be detected.
What Jørn Lande delivers perfection on the vocals, Tony matches in the exact same way on the guitar. Tony is prepared for every single moment. To illustrate just how all-encompassing it all sounds, I would like to use the example of „Black Times“. The song is dominated by heavy and dark riffs. Starting at minute 02:30, however, the listener is treated to a dreamlike, highly emotional guitar solo, while at the very end he lets his guitar shriek uninhibitedly. Once again, this clearly highlights Iommi’s utter mastery.
„Return Of The Arbalist“ cranks up the tempo a notch further and feels much more vibrant, moving closer to the style of the single release „World Alone.“ This brings a fresh burst of energy before the monster track „Legacy“ leads into the seven-minute finale. An irresistible atmosphere immediately pulls everyone into the song, like a black hole pulling in light. After 02:30, the track gains power and pumps itself up massively. Yet another goosebump moment. Overall, a breathtaking experience filled with wonderful ideas, such as the section following the bluesy guitar solo, where suddenly soothing clean guitar tones pamper the ear.
„Stormwatcher“ poured even more gasoline on the fire of anticipation. Vocally alone, Jørn Lande completely captivates me. This phenomenally strong voice combined with the heavy riffs is like a hammer forging musical steel on the anvil with full force and power. „Stormwatcher“ is without a doubt an epic song.
The finale of an album should always be a true highlight. For me, the closer carries the same weight as the opener: it must ultimately capture the spirit of the work and the band, captivating listeners in such a way that it awakens the desire for an immediate repeat play. This is precisely and impressively achieved here. The final event, “Legacy”, once again helps itself uninhibitedly to the Iommi treasure chest and impressively proves that raw energy by no means has to be driven by tempo. Just pay attention to the phase starting around the second minute, where the musical discharge intensifies step by step. The masterly dynamic between atmospheric resting points and eruptive outbursts is second to none.
Conclusion
With 𝙁𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙧𝙠, 𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐘 𝐈𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐈 delivers an excellent album. From the very first second, the crushing riffs captivate the listener and refuse to let go. Yet it is not only the hypnotic riffing that makes this album so extraordinary: the entire guitar work operates at the usual world-class level and thrills with a wealth of outstanding solos. Frontman Jørn Lande also proves to be an absolute stroke of luck, his powerful voice inevitably evoking memories of the unforgettable Ronnie James Dio. With his immense vocal presence, he lends the tracks an incredible intensity. The sound is completed by a flawless high-end production that gives the songs a bone-shattering force and epic heaviness.
