Peter Tägtgren ist schon ein besonderer Musiker. Bei seiner Band PAIN kann man sich nie sicher sein, was so genau als nächstes kommen wird. Und ich bin mir sicher, dass niemand so einen Song wie „I Don’t Give A Fukk“ erwartet hätte. Den Song hat Peter Tägtgren zusammen mit seinem Sohn Sebastian geschrieben, der auch an den Drums bei PAIN aktiv ist.
Als ich das Musikvideo zum ersten Mal sah, musste ich erst schmunzeln, dann war ich überrascht, dann erleichtert und schließlich begeistert. Und diese Reaktionen waren wohl völlig beabsichtigt, wenn ich mir das Statement von Peter Tägtgren so anhöre:
Ich bin wirklich gespannt, wie die Leute reagieren werden, und freue mich sehr über die neue Single. Wie die meisten von euch wissen, versuche ich immer, mich nicht zu wiederholen. Dieses Mal bin ich mir ziemlich sicher, dass sich einige fragen werden: ‚Was zur Hölle ist hier los?‘ Sebastian und ich haben den Song zusammen geschrieben, und textlich werfe ich euch meine Sicht auf die Welt und die vergangenen zehn Jahre direkt ins Gesicht. Haltet euch fest und seid für ein Lächeln bereit .
Peter Tägtgren ist nicht angetan von dem, was in den letzten 10 Jahren so in der Gesellschaft passiert ist. Peter Tägtgren hat die Schnauze voll von Manipulation, Informationsüberflutung, politische Theaterinszenierung und gesellschaftliche Spaltung. Im Zentrum steht das Gefühl, permanent von Lärm und widersprüchlichen Botschaften umgeben zu sein und irgendwann nicht mehr zu wissen, wem oder was man überhaupt noch glauben kann.
All dies bringt er in diesem Song zum Ausdruck. Und die Besetzung in diesem Video könnte nicht besser sein. Der bekannte Schauspieler Peter Stormare spielt einen sehr aufgebrachten Musikboss, der Peter Tägtgren zwingt, seinen Stil zu ändern. Er spielt diese Rolle absolut vortrefflich. In einer sehr intensiven Szene „bittet“ er Peter Tägtgren mit der Band Pain einen Rap-Song zu produzieren. Wer wagt es denn da zu widersprechen? Nun….schaut euch am besten das Video an. PAIN nutzen das Video, um ihre Sicht der Dinge satirisch zu überzeichnen. Meiner Meinung nach wurde das Thema sowohl musikalisch als auch im Video perfekt umgesetzt. Einfach genial!

Peter Tägtgren is quite a unique musician. With his band PAIN, you never quite know what’s coming next. And I’m certain that no one would have expected a song like „I Don’t Give A Fukk“. Peter Tägtgren wrote the track together with his son Sebastian, who also plays drums for PAIN.
When I first saw the music video, I smiled, then felt surprised, then relieved, and finally thrilled. And judging by Peter Tägtgren’s statement, those reactions were almost certainly intentional:
I’m really curious to see how people react, and I’m stoked about the new single. As most of you know, I always try not to repeat myself, and this time I’m sure people will be wondering, ‘What the hell is going on?’ Sebastian and I wrote the song together, and lyrically I’m throwing my view of the world and of the last ten years right in your face. Hold on tight and get ready to smile.
Peter Tägtgren is not impressed by what has happened in society over the last ten years. Peter Tägtgren has had enough of manipulation, information overload, political theatrics, and societal division. At the heart of it all is the feeling of being constantly surrounded by noise and conflicting messages, eventually reaching a point where you no longer know who or what to believe.
He expresses all of this in this song. And the casting in the video couldn’t be better: well-known actor Peter Stormare plays a furious music executive who forces Peter Tägtgren to change his style. He plays the role absolutely brilliantly. In a very intense scene, he „asks“ Peter Tägtgren to produce a rap song with the band Pain. Who would dare to object? Well… you’d best watch the video. PAIN use the video to present a satirical, exaggerated take on the situation. In my opinion, the theme was executed perfectly, both musically and visually. Simply brilliant!
