Auf dem fรผnften Studioalbum ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™Š๐™ง ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™ wollen uns ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐… Bislang war ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…

Tempo ist aber kein Fremdwort fรผr ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…

Nun bin ich von ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐… Wie sieht es denn auf ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™Š๐™ง ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™ aus?

Was meine ich damit?

Und in Sachen Epik steht fรผr mich der traumhafte Track „There Was A Time“ an der Spitze.

Der Bass spielt beim Sound von ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…

english review

On their fifth studio album ๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„ are taking us on another fantastic journey. And it was about time, considering their previous record Gravitation was released a full five years ago. Up until now, ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„ was more of a studio project featuring a rotating cast of guest musicians. However, that seems to be changing: the current lineup is stepping up to embark on this musical journey together as a permanent band. To handle lead vocals, theyโ€™ve brought a truly distinctive voice on boardโ€”none other than Mark Boals.

Generally speaking, you canโ€™t go wrong with ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„, as the group has always stood for top-tier craftsmanship. That hasn’t changed with the new lineup. ๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„ are known for offering an impressive dynamic range in their music. Their tracks are simply bursting with melodies that instantly make themselves at home in your head.

The compositions are intricately crafted and arranged with incredible attention to detail. The music isn’t overly progressive, but rather highly accessibleโ€”itโ€™s music meant to be savored, not a quick fast-food feast in a drive-thru parking lot. Still, speed is hardly a foreign concept to ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„, as the opener „Run“ immediately proves: the track opens in style with sacred organ synths and a soaring guitar solo before picking up the pace into a driving, high-energy song with stunning melodic brilliance.

Now, Iโ€™ve come to expect a fast-paced heavy metal assault as an opening track from ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„. It almost feels like a deliberate concept: on Smoke On The Mountain, it was the title track, and on Gravitation, it was „Rage“โ€”both starting their respective albums with impressive momentum. In my view, an opener like that sets the tone for the entire record, or should at least be revisited somewhere down the line.

When I first listened to ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™Š๐™ง ๐™‚๐™ค๐™™ I have to admit that the two advance singles, „Run“ and „Lord Of Flies“, set very specific expectations. To my ears, while the band delivers a better overall concept than before, they don’t follow through quite consistently enough. What do I mean by that? Well, those exact two tracks exuded a dark aura and a heavy edge that isn’t fully sustained or revisited throughout the rest of the album.

As a result, „Run“ remains the only aggressively driving track of its kind on the record, while „Lord Of Flies“ serves as a darker exception. Since these were the two tracks chosen as singles, they naturally raised certain expectations. For the remainder of the album, ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„ shift their focus toward grand harmonies. The musicians execute this at the highest level, which certainly has its own appealโ€”though for my personal taste, things could have gone a bit sharper and heavier once again.

That being said, this is nitpicking at a high level and ultimately a matter of personal preference. Musically and technically, there is absolutely nothing to fault: every single track is crafted with ultimate professionalism, flawlessly arranged with great attention to detail, and speaks volumes about the immense talent involved. This comes through brilliantly on the instrumental track „In Trance“, which is truly top-class. When it comes to epic flair, the stunning track „There Was A Time“ takes the crown.

And where better to showcase vocal power than on a ballad? „Lost And Alone“ has been chosen for this, and it is wonderful to listen to, not least because guest vocalist Alessandro Del Vecchio lends the song an added layer of emotional depth. And the song is rounded off by a heart-wrenching guitar solo that is an absolute delight.

As a counterweight, the aforementioned heavyweight „Lord Of Flies“ comes into play: this punchy rock track shines through its dark aesthetic, featuring a prominent bassline that lends the song an ominous, threatening aura. In fact, the bass plays a consistently heavy and audible role throughout the entire ๐„๐“๐„๐‘๐๐€๐‹ ๐…๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„ sound.

Conclusion

๐‹๐€๐Œ๐„deliver a technically flawless album. Every single track is crafted with utmost professionalism and highlights the high caliber of the musicians involved. With Mark Boals at the microphone, theyโ€™ve found a vocalist who breathes vibrant life into these songs. Anyone who appreciates mature melodic rock and metal delivered with high energy and passion will find a top-quality package here.
