Genre: Thrash Metal

𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 formed in 2012, quickly establishing a strong reputation while returning to the pure, unadulterated thrash metal roots of founders Tim Scott (formerly of the cult death metal band REVENANT, alongside John McEntee of INCANTATION) and Jimi Mästerbo. A relentless live force, METHANE have left a trail of destruction across countless stages in Europe and the USA—through headlining tours, support slots for bands such as WHIPLASH, WARBRINGER, NERVOSA, and MASSACRE, and appearances at festivals like „Sabaton Open Air,“ „Speed Metal Party,“ „In Flammen,“ and others.
𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 take no prisoners: Blending the vicious force of NYHC with the high-speed DNA of Bay Area thrash, the quartet ignites a veritable inferno of searing guitar runs, thunderous beats, and relentless vocals. Their album Demolate promises a chaotic journey through apocalyptic themes and raw, beer-soaked madness.
With the release of “360° of Destruction„, 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 unleashed an untamed thrash monster right from the start. The track knows no detours, no breathing room, and no mercy. Instead, it delivers a high-speed assault of hard-hitting riffs and relentless forward momentum, one that is more than capable of turning any mosh pit into a raging vortex within seconds.
The remaining tracks are every bit as energetic as the opener. 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 may sound a little unhinged at times, but that sense of controlled madness is clearly part of the formula. The quartet certainly has no interest in wasting time on breathing spaces, instead hurling one relentless thrash barrage after another at the listener. Their mission can be summed up in a simple phrase: Hit hard and never let up! From the very first minute, 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 put the pedal to the metal and maintain a consistently high tempo for the most part throughout the entire set.
After a while, it almost feels like you could end up with whiplash from this relentless barrage. But how are you supposed to survive that kind of pace? For 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄, beer seems to be one possible answer. In fact, they even dedicated a song to their beloved brew, bearing the delightfully ridiculous title „I Fuck For Beer“. There is not much time left for romantic escapades, though, as the track clocks in at a mere 2:37. With 𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄, it’s all about focusing on the essentials.
𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 show no mercy in what they do. The title track, „Demolate,“ reinforces that impression, charging ahead with the same uncompromising force that defines the rest of the album. Instead of relying on nuance or restraint, the band prefers to smash through walls headfirst, leaving nothing but dust and rubble in its wake—true to the album title.
Conclusion
𝐌𝐄𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐄 bludgeon their way through 𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚 with maximum speed and a healthy dose of madness. Anyone expecting major surprises or stylistic detours is looking in the wrong place, as the band remains firmly committed to its explosive blend of Bay Area thrash and NYHC attitude. In return, the album’s eight tracks unleash a tremendous amount of energy, surging from the speakers like a shockwave and seemingly reducing everything in their path to rubble. Adding to the album’s brute-force wrecking-ball approach is a delightfully unhinged streak that shines through not only in the song titles but also in the band’s booze-soaked sense of humor.
The album’s only real shortcoming is its running time. After just under 27 minutes, the ride is already over. That would be perfectly acceptable for a generously packed EP, but for a full-length release it feels somewhat lean. As a result, the album’s brief duration ultimately costs it half a point.
