„Land Of Immortals“ und der finale Track „Rising Of The Beast“ geben noch einmal Vollgas. Doch auch das atmosphĂ€risch dicht gewobene „All Has Read“ weiß auf ganzer Linie zu ĂŒberzeugen und vereint gefĂŒhlvolle Passagen mit durchdringender Power, so dass eine insgesamt reizvoller starker Stimmungsmix entsteht.

Fazit

Following Michael Schinkel’s Eternal Flame, the next big release from Fastball Music is on the way: AEONBLACK will drop their album Treason on November 10, 2026. They haven’t revealed much just yet, but two singles have already been released, offering a taste of what’s to come on the new album.

And this taster was of very good quality. First there is the opener and title track „Treason“, which immediately gets going and gallops forward aggressively. The riffs know how to please by combining sharpness and melody. The guitar playing also shines in appealing solos. Singer Holger Berger brings exactly the organ that comes to mind when the terms heavy and power metal are mentioned: sharp, expressive and extremely accurate in the higher registers. Berger perfectly captures the energy of the instrumental section and fuels the fire even further with his passionate performance.

Next, the band noticeably dial back the tempo on the track „Aeonblack,“ which immediately evokes a bit of a pirate vibe for me! The opening sounds strongly remind me of RUNNING WILD; a band whose albums I devoured in my youth and who were all the rage back then.

In this song AEONBLACK begin with melancholic, ballad-like tones, before the musical tide gradually starts to rise again. This dynamic interplay between quiet and powerful moments defines the song’s opening phase, after which the energy level is kept consistently high. In the final two minutes, the band significantly ramps up the tempo, delivering a completely unbridled and exhilarating closing sprint.

On the follow-up tracks „What Dwells“ and „Death by A.I.“, AEONBLACK show no signs of slowing down; instead, they carry that unbridled energy forward, undiminished. „Death by A.I.“, in particular, really packs a punch: I’m a big fan of the catchy, epic vocal lines, and beyond that, the driving, high-tempo track sweeps me away like a dry leaf in an autumn storm.

The deeper I dive into the album, the more I notice certain things. The top-tier guitar work unleashed here impresses me more and more. The lead guitar ignites one barrage of riffs and solos after another…and these flames burn long and hot! At no point do the solos feel like a perfunctory, check-the-box exercise; instead, they form an essential part of the songs. That is exactly how you get me excited!

The song durations are already quite extensive, but the track „As The Sun Fell On The Ground“ surpasses them all, clocking in at 7 minutes and 18 seconds. It is a true masterpiece; AEONBLACK manages to pack all their strengths into a single track—not merely as a string of ideas, but as a well-thought-out concept with an impressive interplay between the elements. I also have to give a shout-out to drummer Olli, who does a fantastic job and delivers a stellar performance, especially on this track. The bass is even clearly audible at one point, around the 3:20 mark, when the song takes a brief breather. As welcome as this short moment is, I would have liked the bass to be a bit more prominent throughout the album’s overall mix. That said, this is really just nitpicking at a high level, as the production is otherwise exceptionally well executed.

AEONBLACK don’t sit back on the last few meters of the journey and maintain the high level until the end. “Land Of Immortals” and the final track “Rising Of The Beast” go full throttle again. But the atmospherically densely woven „All Has Read“ also knows how to convince across the board and combines soulful passages with penetrating power, so that an overall attractive, strong mix of moods is created.

Conclusion

With Treason, AEONBLACK deliver a powerhouse heavy metal album that impresses from the first minute to the last with its gripping dynamics and top-tier craftsmanship. The band combines razor-sharp riffs, breathtaking guitar solos, and the energetic, expressive vocals of Holger Berger into a complete package that is sure to make any metal fan’s heart beat faster. If you’re into honest, hard-hitting power and heavy metal fueled by burning passion, this is a must-have.
