𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 zählen zu den markantesten Hard‑Rock‑Acts Österreichs. Die Band steht für einen energiegeladenen, authentischen Sound im Stil des klassischen 70er- und 80er-Jahre. Die sechsköpfige Formation hat sich seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2007 zu einer der profiliertesten Rock-Bands des Landes entwickelt. Sie teilten bereits die Bühnen mit Weltstars wie Deep Purple, Scorpions und ZZ Top.

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 knallen auf ihrem Album 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 10 Songs raus und beginnen mit der Midtempo-Hymne „1000 Lives“, die nicht lange zum Warmlaufen benötigt und direkt hart einsteigt. Songs in der Art gibt es viele, aber SERGEANT STEEL wollen hier nichts neu erfinden, sondern klassische Rocksongs mit neuem Leben füllen. Und 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 sind quasi der Defibrillator für diese Mission: Voll aufgeladen setzen sie die Tracks unter Strom und liefern handwerklich eine grandiose Leistung ab. Die Gitarrenarbeit ist ein Traum – das Riffing sitzt so knackig und sexy wie ne enge Jeans. Im Hintergrund hört man dezent eine Hammond-Orgel, was zu genau diesem Sound einfach perfekt passt und ihm das gewisse Extra verleiht.

„Back On The Track“ geht lockerer und beschwingter zu Werke. Ein Song mit starken Melodien, die besonders im Refrain ungeniert zum Mitsingen einladen. Wer genau hinhört, wird einige feine Details im Sound entdecken – Dinge, die man beim beiläufigen Hören vielleicht gar nicht bewusst wahrnimmt, die den Gesamtsound aber spürbar bereichern und verdichten.

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 ist auf jeden Fall daran gelegen, eine breite Palette an Songs auszubreiten. Sie haben ein bestechendes Kartenblatt auf der Hand und für jede Runde ein Ass im Ärmel, das sie locker raushauen. „Teeny Meany“ ist so ein fantastischer Gute-Laune-Song, der echt funky klingt – ein bisschen crazy und voller verrückter Liebe, die hier einfach aus jeder Pore quillt. Auch „Catch The Train“ hat eine herrliche Craziness, die den Hörer sofort mitreißt. Da muss einfach jeder gute Laune bekommen. Und das ungewöhnliche Video mit der Modelleisenbahn unterstreicht den Humor der Band.

Aber 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 können auch ganz andere Seiten aufziehen und mit viel Gefühl berühren. Für die fünfte Nummer, „Lonely Street Of Broken Hearts“, bin ich der Band daher besonders dankbar: Genau zur Mitte des Albums platzieren sie eine bluesige Ballade, die mich schlicht umgehauen hat. In dieser gefühlvollen Darbietung greift einfach jedes Detail perfekt ineinander. Das sind traumhafte fünf Minuten voller wohliger, emotionaler Wärme, in denen man jeden einzelnen Augenblick absolut genießen kann.

Nach der musikalischen Kuschelnummer muss man sich aber schnell wieder anschnallen, denn 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 beschleunigen mit dem Track „Fool For Your Lovin’“ im Rekordtempo.. Sie treten hier endlich mal kräftig aufs Gaspedal und fetzen richtig was weg. So ein Song muss einfach sein – mal richtig ausflippen und fröhlich sein!

Zum Abschluss verdient „Wireless“ noch besondere Aufmerksamkeit, da der Track die kreative Bandbreite von 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 perfekt auf den Punkt bringt. Anstatt direkt loszurocken, schmeicheln sich zu Beginn erst einmal faszinierende, exotische Klänge in den Gehörgang – bis die Band abrupt den Schalter umlegt und voll in den Rock-Modus schaltet. Die Riffs schlagen mit voller Wucht ein und Phil Vance drückt der Nummer mit seinen markanten Vocals den Stempel auf. Was folgt, ist eine kraftvolle Hymne mit erstklassigem Gitarrenspiel und einem fantastischen Solo als Höhepunkt. Diese spezielle Mischung aus klassischem Hard Rock und exotischen Vibes verleiht dem Song eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Richtig cool gemacht!

Fazit

Das Album 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 zeigt mit 10 abwechslungsreichen Songs nicht nur die starke kreative Ader von 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋, sondern auch ihr immenses handwerkliches Können, wenn es darum geht, klassischen Rock mit neuem Leben zu füllen. In der Band steckt viel ansteckende Energie, gepaart mit einer gehörigen Portion guter Laune und einer gesunden Dosis sympathischer Verrücktheit. Ich sage es mal so: Die 10 Tracks bieten einen enorm hohen Unterhaltungswert und hinterlassen am Ende auch das Gefühl: Es sind viel zu wenig Songs! Denn hier wiederholt sich nichts und jede Nummer besitzt ihren ganz eigenen Charme. Man hat einfach keine Wahl als 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 auf Dauerschleife zu stellen.

Since forming in 2007, the six-piece lineup has developed into one of the country’s most prominent rock bands, having already shared the stage with global giants like Deep Purple, Scorpions, and ZZ Top.

On their album 𝙂𝙤𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 blast out 10 tracks, kicking off with the mid-tempo anthem „1000 Lives“, which needs no warm-up phase and hits hard right out of the gate. Sure, there are plenty of songs like this out there, but 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel—they want to breathe fresh life into classic rock tracks. And 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 act as the ultimate defibrillator for this mission: fully charged, they electrify the material, delivering top-tier musicianship. The guitar work is a absolute dream—the riffing sits as tight and sexy as a pair of snug jeans. In the background, you can hear a subtle Hammond organ wailing away, which fits this style of sound perfectly.

„Back On The Track“ takes a looser, more upbeat approach. It’s a track boasting strong melodies and a chorus that unabashedly invites you to sing along. If you listen closely, you’ll discover fine details in the sound production—subtleties you might miss during a casual listen, but which noticeably enrich and thicken the overall sonic texture.

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄🇱 are clearly dedicated to laying out a wide variety of songs. They’re holding a winning hand of cards and seamlessly pull an ace out of for every round. „Teeny Meany“ is one of those fantastic feel-good tracks with a genuinely funky edge—a little crazy and bursting with a wild energy that oozes from every pore. „Catch The Train“ carries that same delightful craziness that instantly pulls the listener in—it’s impossible not to get into a good mood! Plus, the unusual music video featuring a model train layout highlights the band’s great sense of humor.

Yet 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 can also touch you on a deeper, emotional level. That’s why I’m especially grateful to the band for the fifth track, „Lonely Street Of Broken Hearts“: right at the midpoint of the album, they place a bluesy ballad that completely blew me away. In this soulful performance, every piece falls into place beautifully. It’s a gorgeous five minutes of cozy emotional warmth where you can fully savor every single moment.

After that musical cozying-up, you’ll need to fasten your seatbelt again quickly, because 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋 accelerate faster speed with „Fool For Your Lovin’“. Here, they finally step on the gas and rip through with full force. A track like this is simply essential—just letting loose and having a blast!

To wrap things up, I’d like to highlight „Wireless“, which impressively showcases 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐋’s creative range. The track begins by coaxing the ear with intriguing, exotic tones before suddenly flipping the power switch and shifting straight into rock mode. The riffs fly right at you, while Phil Vance stamps his signature mark on the song with his distinctive vocals. It builds into a powerful anthem, boasting superb guitar work that shines through in an extra-strong solo section. I really love the overall special vibe of this track: classic hard rock infused with exotic flair. Cool stuff!
