Die Kanadier verbinden die rohe Aggression klassischer Thrash‑Riffs mit melodischen Akzenten, die nie beschönigen, sondern den Druck nur weiter erhöhen. Im Kern geht es um einen unerbittlichen, fast schon kathartischen Härtegrad, der perfekt zu ihrer Abrechnung mit den gesellschaftlichen Schieflagen der Gegenwart passt – und davon gibt es bekanntlich mehr als genug.

𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝 präsentiert sich als intensives, thematisch geschlossenes Werk: eine Sammlung von Songs über Krieg, Trauma, Korruption, persönliche Zerreißproben und die unterdrückenden Kräfte, die moderne Gesellschaften prägen. Die Band kanalisiert diese Themen nicht abstrakt, sondern mit einer Dringlichkeit, die sich unmittelbar in den Riffs, den Vocals und der gesamten Dramaturgie des Albums niederschlägt.

Es wurde bei METALHEADs new stuff bereits über die erste Single „Apocalypse Of Hope“ berichtet. Mit „Apocalypse Of Hope“ hat 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 bereits ein erstes, unmissverständliches Signal gesetzt. Die Nummer entfacht mit wilden Drums, messerscharfen Riffs und einem Bass, der wie ein pulsierender Motor durch den gesamten Track hämmert, ein regelrechtes Inferno. Gerade der Bass bleibt ein prägnantes Element – nicht nur als Fundament, sondern als treibende Kraft, die den Song permanent nach vorn peitscht. Die fiesen Gitarren schneiden dabei klaffende Wunden.

Als abschließender Track des kommenden Albums fungiert „Apocalypse Of Hope“ weniger als Epilog, sondern als letztes, dringliches Statement. Ein Aufbäumen gegen Resignation, ein lauter, fast verzweifelter Appell, die Hoffnung nicht aufzugeben, selbst dann, wenn die Welt in Dunkelheit versinkt. Der Song bündelt thematisch, was 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝 über seine gesamte Laufzeit verhandelt: Schmerz, Widerstand, moralische Zersetzung und den hartnäckigen Willen, sich nicht brechen zu lassen.

Auch der Opener „Under The Sun“ fährt sofort die Krallen aus. Über mehr als sechs Minuten entfesselt die Band einen gnadenlos brutalen Angriff, der keinerlei Verschnaufpause zulässt. Der Track knallt nicht nur! Er vernichtet! Ein preschender, aggressiver Thrash‑Sturm, der ohne Vorwarnung losbricht und sich mit jeder Minute weiter hochschraubt. Die Gitarrensoli wirken wie zusätzliche Brandbeschleuniger, die das ohnehin schon lodernde Feuer in einen ausgewachsenen Feuertornado verwandeln. Es ist eine Eskalation in allen Bereichen, ein Song, der euch schlicht aus den Latschen haut und gleichzeitig den Ton für das gesamte Album setzt.

Auch mit dem zweiten Track „Do It Again“ nehmen 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 keinerlei Tempo raus. Im Gegenteil: Hier detoniert ein Moshpit‑Zünder nach dem anderen. Die Drums sind ein echtes Highlight – druckvoll, präzise, permanent am Anschlag und treiben den Song mit einer Wucht voran, die kaum Raum zum Atmen lässt. Und gerade wenn man denkt, dass das Level an Intensität bereits am Limit angekommen ist, zündet die Band die nächste Stufe. 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 legen noch einmal nach, schieben die Riffs weiter ins Rot und verwandeln den Track in einen wütenden, unaufhaltsamen Abriss.

Mit „Millennial Dystopia“ nehmen 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 erstmals minimal den Fuß vom Gas, zumindest relativ gesehen. Der Track ist komplexer konstruiert, verschachtelter, weniger auf pure Geschwindigkeit ausgelegt. Besonders der Instrumentalteil mit seinem wilden, fast schon chaotischen Gitarrensolo sticht heraus: ein kurzer Moment kontrollierter Verrücktheit, der dem Song eine zusätzliche Ebene verleiht. Cool umgesetzt und ein starkes Beispiel dafür, wie souverän die Band mit Dynamik spielt.

Dass sich 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 sowohl im Hochgeschwindigkeitsrausch als auch in schwer groovenden Midtempo‑Passagen pudelwohl fühlen, zeigt sich nicht nur hier, sondern auch in „Revolt“. Dort verbinden sie beide Welten noch deutlicher miteinander – ein Wechselspiel aus Tempo, Druck und rhythmischer Schwere, das ihre Handschrift inzwischen unverkennbar macht.

Die dreckige, leicht heiser gefärbte Stimme von Greg Wags Wagner ist einmal mehr ein echtes Pfund. In den tieferen Lagen wirkt sie rau und geerdet, während die hohen Screams eine imposante, fast eruptive Energie freisetzen. Diese Spannweite macht seinen Gesang so markant und passend für den Sound.

Auch die Gitarrensoli verdienen besondere Erwähnung. Sie sind nicht nur technisch stark, sondern werden immer wieder unterschiedlich inszeniert. Diese Variabilität ist alles andere als selbstverständlich und für mich ein klares Qualitätsmerkmal, das dem Album zusätzliche Tiefe verleiht.

Beim Titeltrack „Dissecting The Leech“ setzen 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 mit dem Gitarrensolo direkt ein Ausrufezeichen und sorgen für Aufmerksamkeit. Der Bass klingt erneut herrlich knackig und schiebt mit einer Präsenz nach vorn, die man im modernen Thrash nicht oft so markant hört. Danach entfaltet sich eine rhythmisch spannende Passage, die bewusst aus dem gewohnten Muster ausbricht und gerade deshalb sofort packt.

Man wartet förmlich auf die Initialzündung…und sie kommt! Der Song wird Stück für Stück dynamischer, baut Spannung auf, ohne sie zu überhasten, und greift schließlich das Thema der Einleitung wieder auf. Der Bass wummert, die Gitarren drehen auf, und dann entfaltet das inbrünstige Solo.

Ich bin völlig geflasht, doch tatsächlich habe ich mit „The Path“ einen Song gefunden, der mich nicht ganz so krass abgeholt hat. Es ist der vorletzte Song, der im Vergleich zum Rest als Ballade rüberkommt und ein lange Spielzeit von sechs Minuten hat. Hätte man den Song um zwei Minuten gestrafft, dann hätte mir das besser gefallen. Er hat seinen Charme, aber er zieht sich dann doch leider ein wenig hin. Das gleiche gilt für „I Don’t Care“, der allerdings etwas kurzweiliger rüberkommt.

Dagegen sind die sechs Minuten beim Opener „Under The Sun“ wie im Fluge vergangen. Aber bei einer Gesamtspielzeit des Albums von 50 Minuten lässt sich das locker wegstecken.

Fazit

Die Songs auf 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝 sind insgesamt von bestechender Qualität. 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 räumen kompromisslos alles aus dem Weg, was sich ihnen in den Weg stellt. Ich bin ehrlich gesagt völlig geflasht von der Wucht und Präzision, mit der die Band hier agiert. Ansonsten können sie in den nicht ganz so stürmischen Phasen mit einem starken schlagkräftigen Groove glänzen. 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 ist mit 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙚𝙘𝙝 ein Volltreffer gelungen und sie feuern eine Sammlung grandioser Thrash-Raketen ab.

Even on the second track, “Do It Again,” 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 refuse to ease off the throttle. One mosh‑pit detonator after another goes off. The drums are a real highlight: forceful, precise, constantly pushed to the limit, driving the song forward with a ferocity that leaves barely any room to breathe. And just when you think the intensity has reached its peak, the band fires up the next stage. WRECK‑DEFY push the riffs even deeper into the red, turning the track into a furious, unstoppable wrecking ball.

With “Millennial Dystopia,” 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 ease off the gas for the first time — at least relatively speaking. The track is more complex in its construction, more layered, and less focused on sheer speed. The instrumental section, with its wild and almost chaotic guitar solo, stands out in particular: a brief moment of controlled madness that adds an extra dimension to the song. It’s a cool touch and a strong example of how confidently the band plays with dynamics.

That 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 feel perfectly at home both in full‑throttle speed bursts and in heavy, groove‑laden mid‑tempo passages becomes evident not only here, but also in “Revolt.” There, they merge both worlds even more distinctly: a dynamic interplay of tempo, pressure, and rhythmic weight that has become unmistakably their signature.

Greg Wags Wagner’s gritty, slightly raspy voice is once again a real powerhouse. In the lower registers it feels raw and grounded, while his high‑pitched screams unleash an imposing, almost eruptive energy. This range is exactly what makes his vocal performance so distinctive — and such a perfect fit for the band’s sound

The guitar solos also deserve special mention. They’re not only technically impressive but are presented in constantly shifting ways. This level of variation is anything but a given, and for me, it’s a clear mark of quality that adds significant depth to the album.

On the title track “Dissecting The Leech,” 𝐖𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐊-𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐘 make an immediate statement by opening with a guitar solo that demands attention. The bass once again sounds wonderfully tight and cuts through the mix with a presence rarely heard this distinctly in modern thrash. What follows is a rhythmically intriguing passage that deliberately breaks away from familiar patterns — and grabs you all the more because of it.

You can practically feel the spark building — and then it hits. The song grows more dynamic with each passing moment, building tension without ever rushing it, before finally circling back to the motif introduced at the beginning. The bass rumbles, the guitars surge forward, and then the fervent solo unfolds in full force.

I’m genuinely blown away, but honestly, I did find one track that didn’t hit me quite as hard: “The Path.” As the penultimate song, it comes across as a ballad compared to the rest of the album and stretches to a six‑minute runtime. Had it been trimmed by two minutes, it would have worked better for me. It certainly has its charm, but it does drag a little.

By contrast, the six minutes of the opener “Under The Sun” fly by in no time. And with a total album runtime of around 50 minutes, that’s more than easy to absorb.
