𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 haben sich 2019 gegründet und haben 2023 ihr erstes Album 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙧 über Massacre Records veröffentlicht. Musikalisch gibt sich die Band old school und orientiert sich am Sound der 80’er und 90’er. So entstehen Songs mit viel Power gepaart mit viel melodischen Vibes. Dies sorgt für eine schöne Eingängigkeit, die die Hörer voll mitnimmt. Dabei umschifft man gekonnt allzu kitschige Fahrwasser.

So war das Album Sungazer schon sehr ansprechend und es gelingt 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 mit dem neuen Album 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 noch mal ne Schippe draufzulegen. Dies machen sie umgehend mit dem Opener „Echoes Of Eternity“ klar. Ohne Vorgeplänkel fliegen einem die Riffs um die Ohren und die Drums galoppieren drauflos. Man wird sofort ins Geschehen geschmissen, der Adrenalinspiegel steigt Und das fühlt sich verdammt gut an! Auch gesanglich läuft alles wie geschmiert. Das Tempo bleibt fast durchgängig hoch, bis auf das kurze Zwischenspiel, welches das Gitarrensolo einleitet.

Ein großer Pluspunkt ist der bereits eingangs erwähnte Umstand, dass der Sound auf jeden Fall ne fette epische Note innehat, aber nicht mit Kitsch beladen ist. Das liegt auch daran, dass man auf flauschige Keybordteppiche verzichtet, während die Gitarren durchweg stark präsent sind und das dynamische Drumming voll durchknallt. Dies kann man bei einem meiner Lieblingstracks wie „The Price“ wunderbar hören, der nicht nur kraftvolle durchmarschiert, sondern darüber hinaus noch mit einem wundervollen Refrain aufwartet.

Größtenteils legen 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 ein flottes Tempo vor, doch sie fühlen sich auch im Midtempo-Segment sehr wohl. So entstehen beispielsweise tolle Hymnen wie „Labyrinth Of Time“, das zudem noch mit einem balladesken Zwischenspiel begeistert, bei dem Sänger Tobi glänzen kann, bevor sich ein schönes Gitarrensolo anschließt.

Am Ende kommt dann allerdings der Song „Nocturnal Nights“, der mir persönlich nicht so zusagt und mich etwas langweilt. Jedoch versöhnt mich anschließend der finale Seemannskracher „The Ocean’s Call“, der bei mir Erinnerungen an alte RUNNING WILD-Zeiten aufkommen lässt. Die Produktion des Albums hat übrigens ebenfalls noch mal einen Schritt nach vorne gemacht.

Fazit

Mit ihrem Debüt 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙧(2023) haben 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 bereits eindrucksvoll bewiesen, dass sie den Geist des klassischen Heavy-/Power-Metal der 80er und 90er Jahre authentisch wiederbeleben können. Doch mit ihrem neuen Album Time legen die Süddeutschen noch einmal deutlich zu.

Der Sound ist druckvoller, klarer und epischer als zuvor, ohne in kitschige Gefilde abzurutschen. Statt auf flauschige Keyboardteppiche setzt die Band konsequent auf die Gitarren und dynamisches Drumming, die den Songs eine rohe, ehrliche Energie verleihen. Tobi veredelt die Songs mit seinem wertigen melodischen Gesang, der immer mit viel Gefühl agiert, aber auch die nötige Energie liefert. Die Produktion hat hörbar einen Schritt nach vorne gemacht: alles klingt größer, wuchtiger und dennoch transparent.

𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 formed in 2019 and released their first album, 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙧, on Massacre Records in 2023. Musically, the band is old school, drawing inspiration from the sound of the 80s and 90s. This results in songs with a lot of power paired with melodic vibes. This creates a beautiful catchiness that completely captivates the listener. At the same time, they skillfully avoid overly cheesy territory.

The album Sungazer was already very appealing, and 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 manage to up the ante once again with their new album 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚. They make this clear right away with the opener „Echoes Of Eternity.“ Without any preliminaries, the riffs fly around your ears and the drums gallop along. You are immediately thrown into the action, your adrenaline levels rise, and it feels damn good! Vocally, everything runs like clockwork. The tempo remains high almost throughout, except for the short interlude that introduces the guitar solo.

A big plus point is the fact, already mentioned at the beginning, that the sound definitely has a rich, epic quality, but is not laden with cheesiness. This is also due to the fact that there are no fluffy keyboard layers, while the guitars are consistently strong and the dynamic drumming is kicking. This can be heard wonderfully in one of my favorite tracks, “The Price,” which not only marches powerfully through, but also features a wonderful chorus.

For the most part, 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 set a brisk pace, but they also feel very comfortable in the mid-tempo segment. This results in great anthems such as „Labyrinth Of Time,“ which also features a ballad-like interlude that allows singer Tobi to shine before a beautiful guitar solo follows.

At the end, however, comes the song „Nocturnal Nights,“ which I personally don’t like so much and find somewhat boring. However, I am then reconciled by the final powerful sea shanty „The Ocean’s Call,“ which brings back memories of the old RUNNING WILD days for me. Incidentally, the production of the album has also taken another step forward.

Conclusion

With their debut album Sungazer (2023), 𝙎𝙆𝙐𝙇𝙇 & 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝘽𝙊𝙉𝙀𝙎 have already impressively proven that they can authentically revive the spirit of classic heavy/power metal from the 80s and 90s. But with their new album 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚, band has once again raised the bar significantly.

The sound is more powerful, clearer, and more epic than before, without slipping into cheesy territory. Instead of fluffy keyboard layers, the band consistently relies on guitars and dynamic drumming, which give the songs a raw, honest energy. Tobi refines the songs with his high-quality melodic vocals, which are always full of emotion but also deliver the required energy. The production has audibly taken a step forward: everything sounds bigger, more powerful, and yet transparent.
