„We Are Tyrants“ ist ein sehr eingängiger Banger.

Italy is well known for magnificent power metal bands that often use orchestral arrangements to create cinematic, highly melodic experiences. DRACONICON also hail from Italy and have already released two albums: Dark Side Of Magic (2021) and Pestilence (2023).
The band has received very favorable reviews from the press so far, and indeed, DRACONICON have consistently delivered high-quality music. That made it all the more surprising that we hadn’t heard anything new from them for so long. Now DRACONICON are back with a slightly modified line-up, ready to build on their past success. Guitarist Grym Hünter takes on a dual role by stepping up to handle lead vocals as well, while Dave Tomadini joins as their permanent drummer.
Having reconfigured themselves, the band aims to present a renewed energy and fresh creative spirit to the metal world. The band had this to say:
‘We Are Tyrants’ felt like the right song to open this new chapter. It’s direct, powerful, and immediately shows a bit of the attitude we wanted to bring into Empire. After everything that happened behind the scenes over the last few years, finally sharing new music with everyone is especially important to us. And this is just the beginning.
For their first sign of life after long time, they opted for the track „We Are Tyrants“. While I don’t yet know how the rest of the material sounds, this track impressively demonstrates what DRACONICON sound like in 2026. As good as their previous songs were, „We Are Tyrants“ clearly ignites the next level. Grym Hünter holds his ground admirably as a vocalist; I really dig his darker timbre and gritty vocal edge, which brings a dark heavy bite to the sound that I had previously missed a bit. On top of that, DRACONICON feel considerably punchier than before.
„We Are Tyrants“ is an extremely catchy banger—it hits the mark effortlessly and sounds fantastic. However, for the upcoming album Empire, I do hope they bring some more complex structures to the table in terms of songwriting. Empire is scheduled for release in early 2027, and there will surely be more single releases along the way. I’m definitely intrigued.
