Genre: Thrash Metal
Release: 30.10.2026
Label: Listenable Records
Mit For Whose Advantage?
Neue Single „Allied With The Enemy“
Die Band kommentiert zu „Allied With The Enemy“:

𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 are among the veteran British thrash bands that have been causing a stir since the late eighties: Their debut Shattered Existence (1989) combined the technical rigor of the Bay Area with a distinctly British directness. It rattled from every corner and edge. With For Whose Advantage? (1990), they sharpened their socially critical perspective and established that mixture of edgy mid-tempo grooves and razor-sharp riffs.
With their third album Kin (1992), 𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 underwent something of a stylistic shift and delivered lame songs. The tracks lacked the energy and power that had burst forth so vehemently on their first two albums. It was as if someone had poured sugar into the 𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 power engine’s gas tank. The engine just sputtered and ultimately suffered a total breakdown.
Triumphant Return
𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 returned after many, many years, releasing the album Bury The Pain via Listenable Records in 2019. And man… that thing rocked hard again. It seemed the 𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 engine had been cleaned out, fitted with new pistons, and tuned to rev up at full power once more. And with Seven Words (2022) they didn’t slow down at all, instead giving the sound an extra nitro injection. And now, four years later, the next attack will follow on October 30th.
New Single „Allied With The Enemy“
The title track „Allied With The Enemy“ gave a powerful taste of the album, which will finally be released soon. The album’s title track was a promise that the band remains true to their sound since their comeback and will continue to go full throttle. Highly dynamic, aggressive, and focused, the guys rock an insanely awesome track here. A funny fun fact is the reality that the song wasn’t even planned for the album anymore, but rather came about by chance and then even advanced to become the title track. The band comments on „Allied With The Enemy“:
„Allied with the Enemy“ track was the last one we did for the album, we didn’t actually need any more for it at the time but then funnily enough, as it turned out, it soon became the album title track and first choice for a single release.
The general theme of the song is: „What if the biggest betrayal wasn’t just someone turning against you, but you being inadvertently turned to betray yourself?“
Lyrically, it’s written in a horror styling/slant with a subtle reference to the premise of the ‚Alien‘ films. Musically, it sits as a cross between Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal: sharp riff-based guitar attack over double bass-driven drums. British Thrash.

Is the song an exception on the album, the only banger amidst a wealth of misfires? Absolutely not! The opener alone sweeps away any doubt and blasts out of the speakers rich and punchy. I immediately love how the track is introduced by drums with a military drill before shifting into attack mode. An old-school thrash rocket that ignites dynamically right through. The melodic solo is also brilliantly executed.
𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 have no desire to reinvent the wheel here – instead, with burning hearts and immense self-confidence, they play good, old-school thrash metal. It’s an approach I absolutely celebrate, especially since the band masters this genre brilliantly. As a fan of heavy basslines, a track like „Killer Unknown“ naturally hooks me immediately with its brutal opening. Yet 𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 never fall into rigid formulas; instead, they continually elevate their songs with clever twists. In „Killer Unknown,“ for instance, the brilliantly arranged section starting at 02:50 creates absolute excitement.
„On Burned Remains“ is also a masterpiece that is cleverly arranged. Light acoustic guitar sounds always work well as an introduction. The song skillfully works with flowing rhythm changes that ignite a special dynamic. This creates a field of tension between aggressive attacks and melodic expanse. The song „The Dark Eternal“ works with this as well, just implemented differently. Here, even softer vocal tones can be heard.
Apart from that, there is no trace of restraint on the album: here, that brute energy is unleashed which also drives the song „Nil By Mouth“.
Conclusion
𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 don’t beat around the bush! The band ignites a genuine thrash firework on 𝘼𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙮. Their blazing songs are guaranteed to make any fan of the genre break a sweat. Although the album is quite generous for thrash standards with a running time of 50 minutes, 𝐗𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐗 effortlessly manage to keep this musical journey consistently exciting and free of dull moments.
