Im Thrash Metal Se ist echt viel los! Etliche sehr starke Releases wurden dieses Jahr schon veröffentlicht. 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 aus den Niederlanden wollen da mitmischen und toben sich auf ihrem Debütalbum 𝙒𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠! heftig aus. So klar wie die Message des Albumtitels ist auch der Sound. Mit viel Tempo und Groove direkt in die Fresse!

In etwas über 30 Minuten ballern die Jungs ordentlich was raus und das kann sich sehr wohl hören lassen. Der Opener ist für mich eigentlich immer der wichtigste Song auf einem Album. Hier beginnt der erste Eindruck beim Hörer und der muss sitzen. Der Song muss den Hörer packen und so Lust auf die weiteren Songs entzünden. Wenn man da schon die Skip-Taste drücken muss, dann läuft was falsch.

Zum Glück wissen 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍, wie man die Tür in ein Album auftritt und mitreißend eröffnet. „The Cross“ knallt volle Kanne rein und definiert klar, was man bei 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 erwarten darf. Brettharte Riffs, viel Dynamik, fiese Vocals und energisches Drumming. Ich höre Songs, die genau ihren Weg kennen, ohne Umwege, direkt und hart nach vorne. Die Produktion dröhnt satt und druckvoll aus den Boxen.

Mit dem dritten Song „Inner Me“ nehmen 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 Tempo raus und kompensieren das mit einem starken Groove, der keinen still sitzen lässt. Es ist ein Song mit einem starken Death Metal Vibe. Mit den melodischen Gitarrleads zwischendurch schafft man eine zusätzliche atmosphärische Ebene. Ich finde solche Songs gut, da sie das Konzept angenehm auflockern.

Es folgt mit „Penumbra“ ein ansprechender Instrumentaltrack, der ein wenig Erholung verschafft, bevor man wieder mit „Shadows“ in den temporeichen Angriffsmodus schaltet. 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 sind zwar recht rifflastig, aber der Bass schwingt fett mit und kommt auch mal dominanter hervor, was bei „Shadows“ besonders deutlich wird. Interessant sind darüber hinaus die dynamischen Wechsel in diesem Song. Hier reicht die Palette von Midtempo bis zur totalen Tempo-Eskalation. Sehr stark gemacht!

Das musikalische Rezept des Thrash-Fundaments verstärken 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 mit einer Groove‑Metal‑Wucht und Death‑Metal‑Düsternis, so wie einer synkopierten Rhythmik. Alles zusammen erschafft einen mitreißenden Sound, den 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 bis zum Ende des Albums konsequent durchgeprügeln. Es gibt keinen Durchhänger, wobei auf der zweiten Hälfte „Parasite“ mich noch einmal völlig weggeblasen hat. Hier gibt es noch mal einen stürmischen Angriff vom allergemeinsten Kaliber. Das Album endet schließlich mit dem kämpferischen Titeltrack, der das Ganze mit einem lauten Knall aufreibend abschließt.

Fazit

𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 bewegen sich auf ihrem Debüt 𝙒𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠! in einem spannenden Zwischenraum: Die Band verneigt sich hörbar vor der Thrash‑Tradition, ohne sich nostalgisch darin einzurichten. Stattdessen nutzen 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 das Genre als Fundament, das sie bewusst mit modernen, genreübergreifenden Impulsen aufbrechen. So ist 𝙒𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠! ein beachtliches aufreibendes Debüt, das sich auf jeden Fall behaupten kann. 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 sind eine Band, die man auf dem Schirm haben sollte.

There is a lot going on in the thrash metal scene right now! Quite a few killer releases have already dropped this year. The Netherlands‘ 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 are looking to join the fray, unleashing a storm of energy on their debut album 𝙒𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠!. The sound is just as clear-cut as the message in the album title: high-speed, groovy, and right in your face!

In just over 30 minutes, the guys deliver a powerful blast of music that really hits the mark. For me, the opener is usually the most important track on an album; it’s where the listener forms their first impression, so it has to land perfectly. The song needs to grab the listener and spark a desire to hear the rest of the record. If you feel the urge to hit the skip button right off the bat, something is wrong.

Fortunately, 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 know exactly how to kick down the door and launch an album with a bang. „The Cross“ hits with full force, clearly defining what to expect from 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍: crushing riffs, dynamic shifts, vicious vocals, and energetic drumming. These are songs that know exactly where they’re going: no detours, just driving hard and straight ahead. The production booms from the speakers, rich and punchy.

With the third track, „Inner Me“, 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 dial back the tempo, compensating with a powerful groove that makes it impossible to sit still. It is a song with a strong death metal vibe. Melodic guitar leads interspersed throughout add an extra layer of atmosphere. I appreciate tracks like this, as they provide a welcome change of pace within the overall concept.

Next up is „Penumbra“, an engaging instrumental track that offers a brief respite before the band shifts back into high-speed attack mode with „Shadows“. While 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍’s sound is heavily riff-driven, the bass provides a massive foundation and occasionally takes a more dominant role…something particularly evident in „Shadows“. The dynamic shifts within this track are also noteworthy; the range extends from mid-tempo passages to a full-blown escalation of speed. Very strong!

𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 reinforce their thrash foundation with the sheer force of groove metal, the darkness of death metal, and syncopated rhythms. Together, these elements create a driving sound that 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 relentlessly hammer out from start to finish. There isn’t a single weak moment, though the track „Parasite“, on the album’s second half, completely blew me away; it delivers a ferocious, top-tier assault. Finally, the album concludes with the combative title track, bringing everything to an intense, explosive finish.

Conclusion

On their debut 𝙒𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠!, 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 operate in an intriguing space: the band clearly pays homage to the thrash tradition without merely settling into nostalgia. Instead, 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 use the genre as a foundation, consciously breaking it open with modern, cross-genre influences. The result is a remarkably intense debut that certainly holds its own. 𝐀𝐓𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍 are a band to keep an eye on.
