Die schwedische Band 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 hat sich in der Metalcore-Szene mit einem sehr individuellen Sound etabliert. Die Violine ist fester Bestandteil im Soundgefüge geworden und schenkt dem Sound eine besondere und expressive Atmosphäre. So ist die Band mit ihrem emotional tiefgründigen Sound bei den Fans sehr gut angekommen und haben sich zu einem beliebten Act entwickelt. Das Album The Black (2024) ist eine Wucht und auch der Vorgäner Heaven In Hiding (2021) hatte mich begeistert.

Nun sind sie mit der neuen Single „The Sword That Never Bends“ zurück und schlagen das nächste Kapitel auf, welches sie übrigens mit ihrem neuen Label Sumerian Records schreiben werden.

𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 erklären zur neuen Single „The Sword That Never Bends“:

Jeder, der es hörte, empfand dasselbe. „The Sword That Never Bends“ erwachte auf eine Weise zum Leben, die sofort sowohl den Sound als auch die thematische Ausrichtung der nächsten Phase von IMMINENCE definierte. Es verleiht unserer Identität eine neue Dimension und birgt eine unbändige Energie, die einen aus den Schatten von ‚The Black‘ herausreißt.

Nun, ich war mir zunächst unsicher, was 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 damit meinen, wenn sie sagen, dass der Song jemanden aus dem Schatten von The Black herausreißt. Vielleicht ist es so gemeint, dass The Black insgesamt ein sehr düsterer schwerer Brocken ist und die neue Single „The Sword That Never Bends“ nicht ganz so finster und schwerfällig daherkommt, denn der Song entwickelt deutlich mehr Dynamik als bisher und erscheint vielschichtiger.

Trotzdem bleibt der Sound grundsätzlich so, wie man es von 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 gewohnt ist. Brutal harte Sequenzen wechseln mit fragilen emotionalen Phasen, die sich gegenseitig ergänzen und verstärken. Gesanglich gibt sich Eddie eine Spur moderner. Spannend, wie der Song die verschiedenen Ebenen miteinander kombiniert und sich der Song episch aufbaut. Die unbändige Kraft und Wucht bleibt dem Sound erhalten.

The Swedish band 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 has established itself in the metalcore scene with a highly distinctive sound. The violin has become a firmly integrated element of their sonic identity, giving the music a special, expressive atmosphere. With their emotionally profound sound, the band has resonated strongly with fans and grown into a widely beloved act. The Black (2024) is a dark powerhouse of an album, and its predecessor Heaven In Hiding (2021) had already impressed me deeply.

Now they return with their new single “The Sword That Never Bends”, opening the next chapter of their journey. A chapter they will be writing under their new label, Sumerian Records.

𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 explain the new single “The Sword That Never Bends” as follows:

Everyone who heard it felt the same. „The Sword That Never Bends’“came alive in a way that immediately defined both the sound and the themes of where Imminence is headed next. It introduces a new dimension to our identity and carries a relentless energy that pulls you out from the shadows of The Black.

At first, I wasn’t entirely sure what 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 meant when they said that the new song pulls you “out of the shadows of The Black„. Perhaps the thoughts are that The Black as a whole is a very dark, heavy monolith, whereas the new single “The Sword That Never Bends” feels noticeably less bleak and sluggish. The track develops far more dynamism than before and comes across as more multi‑layered.

Still, the core of the 𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 sound remains unmistakable. Brutally heavy sections alternate with fragile, emotional passages that complement and amplify one another. Vocally, Eddie takes a slightly more modern approach. It’s fascinating how the song weaves these different layers together and builds toward an epic climax. The raw power and sheer force that define their sound are still very much present.
