Markus Wosgien hat sich mit seinem Label FIREFLASH RECORDS seit Anfang des Jahres vom Label Reignung Phoenix Music abgekoppelt und selbstständig gemacht. Seitdem ist er mit Feuereifer dabei das Label nach seinen Vorstellungen zu formen. Dazu hat er bisher fleißig Bands in seinem Hause verpflichtet. Und ich muss sagen, dass er ein super Händchen in der Bandauswahl beweist, wenn ich an Bands wie MEZZROW, VANAHEIM, MALEDICTUS, RUTHLESS, TAILGUNNER denke, um nur einige der Hochkaräter zu nennen.

Auch ROCK JUSTICE sind Teil der FIREFLASH-Familie. Sie sind eine neue Hardrock-Band aus den Niederlanden mit Sängerin Maggy Luyten (Ayreon, Beautiful Sin, The Prize, ex-Nightmare) und Gitarrist Bas Maas (Doro, After Forever). Die Band ist die Verwirklichung eines lang gehegten Traums von Bas Maas.

Die Idee entstand, als ich noch bei After Forever spielte, wo ich keine ernsthafte Chance hatte, mich am Songwriting zu beteiligen. Ich hatte ein paar Songs geschrieben, die es nicht in die Auswahl geschafft hatten, und mir wurde klar, dass ich, wenn ich meine eigene Musik veröffentlichen wollte, dies selbst tun musste, oder zumindest mit anderen Leuten.

Mags Stimme hat mich total umgehauen. Ich dachte: „Diese Frau singt wie ein Mann und sie liefert ab.“ Nicht lange danach trafen wir uns bei einer Ayreon-Albumpräsentation in Utrecht. Sie wollte meine Songs hören, um zu sehen, ob sie sie inspirieren würden. Das taten sie!

Und hier gibt’s die neueste Single „Rocker’s Confession“! Ein Song mit fetter schmutziger Hardrock Würze. Und tatsächlich ist Sängerin Maggy der Wahnsinn. Zu Beginn klingt sie noch recht versöhnlich, aber das ändert sich im Laufe des Songs. Man könnte wirklich stellenweise dem Irrtum erliegen, dass hier ein Mann den Ton angibt. Aber weit gefehlt… Alles kommt von Sängerin Maggy, die mit krassen Stimmfarben begeistert. Sehr geil!

Die musikalische Ausrichtung war für ROCK JUSTICE klar:

Alles zwischen Hardrock und Metal war willkommen, solange es von Herzen kam. Mit dem Hardrock und Metal der 70er und 80er Jahre im Blut fühlte sich die Chemie ganz natürlich an.

Sängerin Maggy kommentiert:

Als Bas vorbeikam, um sich anzuhören, woran ich gearbeitet hatte, wussten wir beide, dass wir etwas hatten. Ich sehe ihn noch vor mir, wie er nach Hause fährt: Fenster runter, unsere Demo auf voller Lautstärke, Arm raus, Metal-Horns hoch, breites Grinsen!

Das kommende Album 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 wird am 26. Juni erscheinen und verschiedene Songstile in sich vereinen, die durch eine nostalgische Atmosphäre und eine ausgefeilte Produktion miteinander verbunden sind.

Vorab gab es noch die Single „You Know Better“, die mit melodischer Metal-Kante auftrumpft. Es ist ein sehr eingängiger Uptempo-Song mit tollen harmonischen Hooks, wobei immer noch ne gute Schärfe im Sound vorhanden bleibt.

Since the beginning of the year, Markus Wosgien has made Fireflash Records independent, parting ways with Reigning Phoenix Music to pursue his own path. Since then, he has been working with fiery enthusiasm to shape the label according to his own vision. To this end, he has been busy signing new bands. And I must say: he demonstrates an superb instinct when it comes to selecting his acts—just look at bands like MEZZROW, VANAHEIM, MALEDICTUS, RUTHLESS, and TAILGUNNER to see the high‑caliber talent he has brought on board.

ROCK JUSTICE are also part of the FIREFLASH family. They are a new hard rock band from the Netherlands featuring vocalist Maggy Luyten (Ayreon, Beautiful Sin, The Prize, ex‑Nightmare) and guitarist Bas Maas (Doro, After Forever). The band is the realization of a long‑held dream of Bas Maas.

The idea first emerged when I was still playing in After Forever, where I never really had a serious chance to contribute to the songwriting. I had written a few songs that didn’t make the cut, and I realized that if I wanted to release my own music, I would have to do it myself — or at least with other people.

Mags’s voice completely blew me away. I thought, “This woman sings like a man — and she absolutely delivers.” Not long after that, we met at an Ayreon album presentation in Utrecht. She wanted to hear my songs to see whether they would inspire her. And they did!

And here’s their latest single, “Rocker’s Confession”! A track packed with thick, dirty hard‑rock flavor. And indeed, vocalist Maggy is absolutely insane. At first, she still sounds fairly restrained, but that changes as the song unfolds. At times, you could genuinely mistake her for a male singer taking the lead. But far from it… everything you hear comes from Maggy, who impresses with some truly wild vocal textures. Awesome!

The musical direction was clear for ROCK JUSTICE from the very beginning:

Everything between hard rock and metal was welcome, as long as it came from the heart. With the hard rock and metal of the ’70s and ’80s running through their veins, the chemistry felt completely natural.

Singer Maggy comments:

When Bas came over to listen to what I had been working on, we both knew we had something. I can still picture him driving home: window down, our demo blasting at full volume, arm out, throwing the metal horns, grinning from ear to ear!

The upcoming album 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 will be released on June 26 and brings together a variety of song styles, all tied together by a nostalgic atmosphere and a polished production.

Before that, the band released the single“You Know Better“, which comes with a melodic metal edge. It’s a very catchy uptempo track with great harmonic hooks, while still retaining a spicy touch in its overall sound.
