Traditioneller Metal ist zur Zeit wieder total angesagt. Eine der Bands, welche sich dem old school Metal hingeben, sind sicherlich 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒. Seit den frühen 1980er Jahren ist die Band unter der Führung von Sänger Sammy DeJohn ihrem Metal-Stil treu geblieben. Und aktuell sind sie im Kader von Fireflash Records zu finden.

Von der legendären ersten EP „Metal Without Mercy“ (1984) und dem kultigen Debütalbum „Discipline Of Steel“ (1986) bis hin zu den späteren Alben „They Rise“ (2015)“ und „Evil Within“ (2019) sind sie ihren Wurzeln stets treu geblieben und stehen in der Tradition von Acts wie JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT und BLACK SABBATH. Ihr voriges Album „The Fallen“ erschien im Januar 2024 auf ihrem neuen Label Fireflash Records (WOLF, HOLY MOSES u. a.), gefolgt von einer Europatournee als Support ihrer Metalbrüder JAG PANZER, wodurch sie ihren Ruf als großartige Live-Band festigten.

𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 sind übrigens dieses Jahr auch live in Deutschland unterwegs. Sollte man nicht verpassen, denn sie spielen zusammen mit den genialen THE TROOPS OF DOOM. Die Tourdaten findet ihr am Ende des Artikels.

Der Song „Curse Of The Beast“ beschäftigt sich mit der Werwolf-Legende. Wie verarbeitet man die Tatsache, dass man als „normaler“ Mensch nachts plötzlich zu mordenden Bestie wird?

Musikalisch gleicht der Song einer gnadenlosen Hetzjagd – wie ein Werwolf, der von rasender Gier und unbändiger Wut getrieben sein nächstes Opfer aufspürt und brutal zerreißt. Die kreischenden Leadgitarren verleihen dem Stück ein zusätzliches Maß an bissigem Drama und schärfen die bedrohliche Atmosphäre. 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 setzen das Werwolf‑Thema damit äußerst stimmig um: ein fetziger, aggressiver Track, der die innere unkontrollierte Bestie überzeugend zum Leben erweckt.

Zusammen mit der Veröffentlichung des Titeltracks „Curse Of The Beast“ starten 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 heute den Vorverkauf des neuen Albums, welches am 17. Juli erscheinen wird. Traditional metal is experiencing a real resurgence at the moment. One of the bands fully devoted to old‑school metal are undoubtedly 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒. Since the early 1980s, the group, led by vocalist Sammy DeJohn, has remained true to its signature style. Today, they are part of the Fireflash Records roster.

From the legendary first EP Metal Without Mercy (1984) and the cult debut album Discipline of Steel (1986) to later releases like They Rise (2015) and Evil Within (2019), the band has always stayed true to its roots, carrying the torch of acts such as JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT and BLACK SABBATH. Their previous album The Fallen was released in January 2024 via their new label Fireflash Records (home to WOLF, HOLY MOSES and others), followed by a European tour supporting their metal brothers JAG PANZER, a run that further cemented their reputation as a formidable live band.

𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 will also be performing live in Germany this year. A show you definitely shouldn’t miss, as they’ll be sharing the stage with the phenomenal THE TROOPS OF DOOM. You’ll find all tour dates at the end of the article.

The song “Curse Of The Beast” deals with the werewolf legend. How does one cope with the fact that, as a “normal” human being, you suddenly transform into a murderous beast at night?

Musically, the song feels like a merciless chase: like a werewolf driven by ravenous hunger and unrestrained fury, hunting down its next victim and tearing it apart. The screaming lead guitars add an extra layer of sharp, feral drama, intensifying the sense of menace. With this track, 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 capture the werewolf theme with remarkable coherence: a fierce, aggressive piece that convincingly brings the uncontrollable inner beast to life.

Along with the release of the title track “Curse Of The Beast“, 𝐑𝐔𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 are launching the pre‑order for their new album 𝘾𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙊𝙛 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩, which will be released on July 17.
