Bei 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 ist der Name weiterhin Programm: Die Isländer kehren mit 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙊𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 zurück und präsentieren sich so energiegeladen, verspielt und unverschämt gut gelaunt wie eh und je. Schon die vor drei Monaten veröffentlichte Single „Sword Vigor“ hat das eindrucksvoll bewiesen; ein bärenstarker Song, flankiert von einem Video, das man schlicht gesehen haben muss. Es erinnert daran, dass Humor im Metal nicht nur erlaubt, sondern essenziell ist. Bei aller Härte, die das Genre zu bieten hat, darf der Spaß niemals auf der Strecke bleiben.

Und genau dieser Spaß ist bei 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 nicht nur sichtbar, sondern in jeder Note spürbar. Die Band stürzt sich mit einer unverblümten Frische und einer ansteckenden Spielfreude in ihre Songs, die sofort zündet. Das ist kein Ritt auf der Kanonenkugel, sondern der Start auf einer Hochgeschwindigkeitsrakete, die ohne Umwege in ein farbenfrohes, melodisches Feuerwerk führt.

Der Opener „Sword Vigor“ macht das unmissverständlich klar: ein explosives, melodisch brillantes Statement, das mit einem Gitarrensolo endet, das den ohnehin schon starken Auftakt noch einmal über sich hinaushebt. Ein fabelhafter Einstieg in ein Album, das genau weiß, was es will – und es mit voller Überzeugung liefert.

Und es bleibt nicht bei diesem fulminanten Auftakt! 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 legen sogar noch eine Schippe drauf. „Glade Lords Of Athel Loren“ fängt die Energie des Openers mühelos ein, trägt sie mit derselben Leichtigkeit weiter und setzt anschließend noch einen drauf. Der Song ist ein Paradebeispiel für geschwindigen, melodischen Power Metal, der sofort ins Ohr geht. Doch damit geben sich die Isländer nicht zufrieden.

Mitten im Stück reißen sie das Steuer herum und überraschen mit einem abrupten Break, der den Song in eine völlig neue Richtung katapultiert: ein folkloristisch angehauchter Einschub, der wie ein kurzer Blick in eine andere Welt wirkt. Kaum hat man sich orientiert, entfacht die Band einen gesanglichen Schlagabtausch, bei dem sich klare Power‑Metal‑Vocals und dunklere, fast growlartige Stimmen gegenüberstehen. Dieser Kontrast wirkt nicht nur unerwartet, sondern verleiht dem Track eine zusätzliche Dimension.

So weit zur ersten Häfte des Albums. Die großzügigen Spielzeiten der Songs nimmt man beim Hören kaum bewusst wahr, denn sie verfliegen regelrecht. Und genau das ist ein Qualitätsmerkmal, das man nicht hoch genug bewerten kann. Während andere Bands ihre Stücke künstlich aufblasen und unnötig in die Länge ziehen, entsteht bei 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 kein Eindruck von Überdehnung. Im Gegenteil: Die Songs wirken so organisch, so flüssig komponiert, dass man erst beim Blick auf die Trackliste realisiert, wie episch viele der Stücke tatsächlich sind. Hier wird keine Sekunde verschenkt, kein Riff zu lange wiederholt, kein Refrain überstrapaziert. Alles sitzt, alles fließt…und alles macht Lust auf mehr.

Doch auf der zweiten Hälfte des Albums verschiebt sich für mich das Bild ein wenig. Die Songs bleiben stark, keine Frage – aber sie packen mich nicht mehr mit derselben Wucht wie die ersten Stücke. „Aegis Of Eternity“ prescht zwar kräftig nach vorn und mir gefällt der stellenweise druckvoll dreckige Gesang, ist mir dann auf der anderen Seite etwas zu kitschig.

Bei „Camelot Rock City“ stört mich vor allem der hochgepitchte Chor, der dem Song eine zu schrille Note verleiht, die mir hier nicht gefällt. Allerdings zeigt der ausgiebige Instrumentalpart in der zweiten Hälfte wieder, wie stark die Band eigentlich ist. „Keeper Of The Crimson Dungeon“ schließlich galoppiert solide, aber etwas unspektakulär an mir vorbei, ohne den Funken zu zünden, den andere Tracks so mühelos entfachen.

Doch mit dem finalen „Valediction“ fangen 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 mich wieder ein. Hier bauen sie auch noch einmal diese dunklen Vocals ein, was ich als gelungene Abwechslung bzw. Erweiterung des ohnehin starken gesanglichen Spektrums sehe. In epischen neun Minuten zementiert die Band ihren Status als eine der spannendsten Kräfte im modernen Power Metal: selbstbewusst, melodisch brillant und voller Zuversicht für das, was noch kommen mag. Diese Band hat es drauf und ich bin mir sicher, dass sie ihr mächtiges Potential weiter ausbauen und nutzen werden. Growls in der vierten Minute, die noch für Erdung und Kontrast sorgen

𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 starten mit einer Wucht, die sofort mitreißt und die Essenz von 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙊𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 ausmacht: Unbändige Leidenschaft, ne Portion Humor und ein unerschütterlicher Glaube an die Kraft des melodischen Metals. Und auch wenn das Album unterwegs ein wenig von der anfänglichen Power verliert, kann man eindeutig feststellen, dass 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 ein enormes Potenzial besitzen. With 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍, the name continues to speak for itself: the Icelanders return with 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙊𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 and present themselves as energetic, playful, and unabashedly upbeat as ever. Their single “Sword Vigor”, released three months ago, already proved that in impressive fashion — a powerhouse of a song, accompanied by a video you simply have to see. It’s a reminder that humor in metal isn’t just allowed, it’s essential. For all the heaviness the genre has to offer, the fun should never fall by the wayside.

And that sense of fun isn’t just visible with 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍, it’s audible in every single note. The band throws itself into its songs with unfiltered freshness and an infectious joy of playing that ignites instantly. This isn’t a ride on a cannonball; it’s the launch of a high‑speed rocket that shoots straight into a colorful, melodic fireworks display.

The opener “Sword Vigor” makes that unmistakably clear: an explosive, melodically brilliant statement that ends with a guitar solo elevating the already strong beginning even further. A fabulous introduction to an album that knows exactly what it wants and delivers it with full conviction.

And the album doesn’t stop at this explosive opening! 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 even manage to raise the stakes. “Glade Lords Of Athel Loren” picks up the opener’s energy with ease, carries it forward with the same effortlessness, and then pushes it even further. The track is a prime example of fast, melodic power metal that grabs you instantly. But the Icelanders aren’t satisfied with just that.

In the middle of the track, they yank the wheel around and surprise with an abrupt break that catapults the song into a completely new direction: a folk‑tinged interlude that feels like a brief glimpse into another world. Barely has the listener found their bearings when the band ignites a vocal duel in which clear power‑metal vocals face off against darker, almost growl‑like voices. This contrast isn’t just unexpected. It gives the track an additional dimension that lifts it far beyond the genre’s standard repertoire.

So much for the first half of the album. The generous song lengths hardly register while listening…they simply fly by. And that’s a quality marker that can’t be praised highly enough. While other bands tend to bloat their tracks and stretch them unnecessarily, 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 never give off the slightest sense of overextension. On the contrary: the songs feel so organic, so fluidly composed, that you only realize how epic many of them actually are when you look at the tracklist. Not a second is wasted, no riff is repeated for too long, no chorus is overused. Everything sits exactly where it should, everything flows — and everything leaves you wanting more

However, in the second half of the album, the impression shifts a little for me. The songs remain strong, no doubt, but they no longer grab me with the same force as the earlier tracks. “Aegis Of Eternity” does charge forward with plenty of force, and I really like the moments where the vocals take on a punchy, gritty edge, but on the other hand the track feels a bit too cheesy for my taste.

On “Camelot Rock City”, it’s mainly the high‑pitched choir that throws me off, giving the song a shrill edge, even though the instrumental section in the second half once again shows how strong the band truly is. Finally, “Keeper Of The Crimson Dungeon” gallops past solidly but somewhat unspectacularly, without sparking the same fire that other tracks ignite so effortlessly

But with the final track “Valediction”, 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 win me back completely. Here they once again weave in those darker vocals, which I see as a welcome variation and an expansion of an already strong vocal palette. Over the course of nine epic minutes, the band cements its status as one of the most exciting forces in modern power metal: confident, melodically brilliant, and full of optimism for what lies ahead. This band has what it takes, and I’m certain they will continue to develop and harness their formidable potential.

Conclusion

𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐏𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐃𝐈𝐍 kick things off with a force that grabs you instantly and defines the essence of 𝘽𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙊𝙛 𝙀𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: unbridled passion, plenty of humor, and an unwavering belief in the power of melodic metal.
