𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 sind sicherlich alleine schon von ihrer Herkunft eine interessante Band, denn ihr Ursprung reicht zurück ins Jahr 1993, wo sie sich in Jerusalem gegründet haben. Gründer Ashmedi formte dort die Grundidee eines „Mesopotamian Metal“, der okkulte Mythologie, nahöstliche Skalen und extreme Metal‑Traditionen wie Black-und Thrash-Metal miteinander verschmolz.
𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 unterschieden sich bewusst von der europäischen Black‑Metal‑Schule und setzten stattdessen auf hypnotische Riffs, rituelle Rhythmen und eine tief verankerte kulturelle Symbolik. Trotz vieler Line Up-Wechsel blieb Ashmedi das unverrückbare Zentrum bei 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇. (Leider fand ich keine verlässlichen Informationen über das komplette aktuelle Line-Up der Band, zudem auf dem Bandfoto bis auf Ashmedi alle Mitglieder verhüllt sind.)
Das letzte Album Enki wurde 2015 noch über Nuclear Blast veröffentlicht. Nach der langen Auszeit findet die Wiederauferstehung mit Unterstützung von Reigning Phoenix Music statt. Zunächst wird die EP 𝙎𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙝 am 10. April erscheinen, aber ich gehe davon aus, dass noch zeitnah ein Longplayer folgen wird.
Wir sind stolz, bei Reigning Phoenix Music unterschrieben zu haben – einem Label, das von echten Fans geführt wird und Professionalität mit persönlichem Engagement verbindet. Nach Verzögerungen, die nicht in unserer Hand lagen und die wir überwunden haben, sind wir bereit, unsere neue EP Sentinels of Shamash zu präsentieren: kompromisslos, vielseitig und ganz im Geist von MELECHESH. Wir wissen die Geduld und Vorfreude von euch allen zu schätzen, deshalb liefern wir nur das Beste.
Als Vorgeschmack wurde nun die Single „Raptors Of Anzu“ veröffentlicht, die mit einer Energie explodiert, das den Song wie einen unbändigen Befreiungsschlag wirken lässt. Und es ist zudem ein kraftvolles feuriges Versprechen, dass 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 wiederkehren, um zu bleiben!

𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 are certainly an interesting band by virtue of their origins alone, since their roots go back to 1993, when they were formed in Jerusalem. Founder Ashmedi there shaped the basic idea of „Mesopotamian Metal,“ which fused occult mythology, Middle Eastern scales, and extreme metal traditions such as black and thrash metal.
𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 deliberately set themselves apart from the European black‑metal school and instead relied on hypnotic riffs, ritual rhythms, and deeply rooted cultural symbolism. Despite many lineup changes, Ashmedi remained the unwavering center of MELECHESH. (Unfortunately, I could not find reliable information about the band’s complete current lineup; moreover, in the band photo all members except Ashmedi are veiled.)
The last album Enki was still released through Nuclear Blast in 2015. After the long hiatus, the resurrection is happening with the support of Reigning Phoenix Music. First, the EP Sentinels of Shamash will be released on April 10, but I expect a full‑length album to follow in the near future.

As a preview, the single „Raptors Of Anzu“ has now been released; it explodes with an energy that makes the song feel like an unbridled act of liberation. And it is also a powerful, fiery promise that 𝐌𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒𝐇 are returning to stay.
