Manchmal muss man sich Schmerz und Leid hingeben, sie über sich ergehen lassen….um wieder atmen zu können…um überhaupt heilen zu können.

Die französische Band 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 formt aus diesem Prozess auf ihrem dritten Album 𝘿𝙚𝙪𝙞𝙡(𝙨) eine schonungslose Klangreise. Mir ist bewusst, dass solche Musik eine Nische bleibt und nie die breite Masse erreichen wird. Doch gerade deshalb bin ich dankbar, dass es sie gibt: Musik, die sich in die dunklen, unschönen Untiefen wagt, in die sich nur wenige mit dieser Klarheit und Konsequenz vorarbeiten.

𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 wagen sich an Orte, die nicht schön sind und gerade deshalb hat mich die Atmosphäre gepackt. Fünf Songs führen den Hörer bei diesem Konzeptalbum in 41 Minuten tief durch die Dunkelheit der Trauer, wobei sie die fünf Phasen der Trauer repräsentieren: Denial (Verleugnung), Bargaining (Verhandeln), Depression, Anger (Wut) und Acceptance (Akzeptanz).

Was sofort ins Ohr sticht, ist der rohe, ungeschönte Sound, der sich nahtlos mit dem emotionalen Kern der Musik verbindet. Nichts wirkt geschliffen oder künstlich veredelt. Die Produktion lässt die Schwere und Verletzlichkeit bewusst stehen.

Beim Opener „Denial“ bricht das Dunkle langsam, aber unaufhaltsam hervor und legt sich wie ein schwarzes Gewand um den Hörer. Die Atmosphäre verdichtet sich stetig, während die Melancholie von energisch aufflammenden Black‑Metal‑Vibes erschüttert wird. Es ist ein schleichender Prozess zunehmender Dramatik, ein Strudel, der einen immer tiefer hinabzieht. Die extremen, fast infernalischen Vocals verstärken diese Sogwirkung zusätzlich.

Nach dem energiegeladenen Eröffnungsakt führen uns 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 mit „Bargaining“ in ruhigere Gewässer und überraschen mit einer fast balladesken Nummer, die mit gefühlvollen Vocals beginnt. Doch je weiter der Song voranschreitet, desto mehr entgleitet ihm die Kontrolle, bis sich die aufgestauten Emotionen schließlich kraftvoll entladen. Die melodischen Gitarrenlinien verleihen dem Stück epische Weite; sie wirken wie flackernde Lichtstrahlen, die sich durch die Dunkelheit kämpfen. Eine wahnsinnig intensive Entwicklung.

Diese beiden ersten Songs zeichnen ein eindrucksvolles Bild der musikalischen Welt, in der sich 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 bewegen. Obwohl sie sich in Aufbau, Dynamik und Ausdruck deutlich voneinander unterscheiden, spiegeln sie zwei Seiten desselben emotionalen Themas wider. Und doch zieht sich ein klarer roter Faden durch den Sound. Die atmosphärische Handschrift verbindet alle Stücke miteinander.

So werden auch die restlichen drei Songs markant und zugleich tief bewegend umgesetzt. In „Depression“ lassen sich die höllischen Qualen der Verzweiflung förmlich spüren; die Gitarren verbreiten hier kein Licht, sondern reines Unheil. „Anger“ stellt die Wut ins Zentrum, die sich vor allem im letzten Drittel des Stücks zu einem riesigen Monster aufbaut und ungebremst eskaliert. Und schließlich vollführt das abschließende Kapitel „Acceptance“ einen gewaltigen Schlussakt voller ekstatischer Gefühlsausbrüche, die sich mit aller Kraft den Weg zurück ins Licht bahnen.

Fazit

𝘿𝙚𝙪𝙞𝙡(𝙨) ist kein Album, das tröstet. Es ist ein Werk, das den Mut hat, im Dunkeln zu verweilen und den Schmerz auszuhalten, bis er seine Form verändert. 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 zeichnen die fünf Phasen der Trauer als Weg, der gegangen werden muss: Schritt für Schritt, Atemzug für Atemzug. Der rohe Klang, die eruptiven Ausbrüche und die stillen Zwischenräume formen eine Reise, die tief ins Dunkle hinabführt und doch einen Funken Licht bewahrt, um den Weg zurückzufinden. Dieses Album fordert Hingabe, aber wer sich darauf einlässt, findet darin eine seltene, erschütternde Schönheit.

Sometimes you have to accept pain and suffering, let it come over you…to be able to breathe again…to be able to heal.

The French band 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 transforms this process into a relentless sonic journey on their third album, 𝘿𝙚𝙪𝙞𝙡(𝙨). I am aware that such music remains a niche genre and will never reach the masses. But that is precisely why I am grateful that it exists: music that ventures into the dark, unpleasant depths that only a few dare to explore with such clarity and consistency.

𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 venture into places that are not beautiful, and that is precisely why the atmosphere captivates me. Five songs on this 41-minute concept album take the listener deep into the darkness of grief, representing the five stages of grief: Denial, Bargaining, Depression, Anger and Acceptance.

What immediately strikes the ear is the raw, unadorned sound that blends seamlessly with the emotional core of the music. Nothing seems polished or artificially refined. The production deliberately leaves the heaviness and vulnerability intact.

In the opener “Denial,” darkness slowly but inexorably breaks through and envelops the listener like a black fog. The atmosphere steadily thickens as melancholy is shattered by energetically flaring black metal vibes. It is a creeping process of increasing drama, a vortex that pulls you deeper and deeper. The extreme, almost infernal vocals further reinforce this pull.

After the energetic opening act, 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 take us into calmer waters with “Bargaining” and surprise us with an almost ballad-like number that begins with soulful vocals. But the further the song progresses, the more it loses control, until the pent-up emotions finally erupt powerfully. The melodic guitar lines lend the piece an epic breadth; they seem like flickering rays of light fighting their way through the darkness. An incredibly intense progression.

These first two songs paint an impressive picture of the musical world in which 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 operates. Although they differ significantly in structure, dynamics, and expression, they reflect two sides of the same emotional theme. And yet there is a clear common thread running through the sound. The atmospheric signature connects all the songs.

The remaining three songs are also rendered in a striking and deeply moving manner. In “Depression,” the hellish torments of despair can be literally felt; the guitars here spread not light, but pure doom. “Anger” focuses on rage, which builds up into a veritable monster, especially towards the end of the song, and escalates relentlessly. And finally, the concluding chapter, “Acceptance,” performs a powerful final act full of ecstatic emotional outbursts that fight their way back into the light.

Conclusion

𝘿𝙚𝙪𝙞𝙡(𝙨) is not an album that offers comfort. It is a work that has the courage to linger in the darkness and endure the pain until it changes. 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 depicts the five stages of grief as a path that must be walked: step by step, breath by breath. The raw sound, the eruptive outbursts, and the quiet interludes form a journey that leads deep into darkness, yet retains a spark of light to find the way back. This album demands devotion, but those who embrace it will find a rare, haunting beauty within.
